This is a wiki with a very active group of teachers, from all over the world and all age groups, who like to communicate and collaborate by Skype. Request to join the wiki, then they'll add you as a contact on Skype. If you log on to Skype from time to time you can follow the conversation to see what types of projects people are doing and which you'd like to join, or you can put out a request for collaborators on your own.

Just what the title says...

"You can use Google Images to search the web for images that have been licensed under Creative Commons or  GNU Free Documentation licences (GFDL).  Images licensed under Creative Commons or GFDL are still subject  to copyright, but the creator or copyright owner has chosen to allow other people to use their material under certain  conditions. These images can be freely used in teaching material, as part of research publications, on blogs, wikis  and other websites, and in University publications.  Not all images on Google images are available under Creative  Commons or similar licences; this guide explains how to limit your search to Creative Commons and similar  material." Then the rest goes into how to search Google Images, and how to give proper attribution. It's a tutorial walking you through step by step.

The Global Classroom Project wiki is a collection of resources for teachers who want to collaborate globally. There are several big ongoing projects for all grade levels, as well as a huge directory of teachers you can contact on your own if you want to find a collaborator for a project.

Have students write book reviews and publish their reviews for others to read. "Vicki Davis 07 Oct 13 03:30:18 I noticed that Wikispaces included Dogo books under a new "Education" category in the widget menu. (This looks like a television on the edit bar when you click to Edit a wiki.) So, Dogobooks is a place where kids are writing book reviews about everything. Very cool. You can see the most popular books and ti also has book clubs and other ways for kids to connect. This is a very cool site for helping kids love learning and may also augment Accelerated Reader programs nicely."

I am doing Session 4 as a Stand-Alone at AJHS. Here is the wiki that I've started. We can add to this as resources come in.

"The premise is simple; we pick a book to read aloud to our students during a set 6-week period and during that time we try to make as many global connections as possible. Each teacher decides how much time they would like to dedicate and how involved they would like to be. Some people choose to connect with just one class, while others go for as many as possible. The scope and depth of the project is up to you. In the past we have used Twitter, Skype, Edmodo, our wiki, email, regular mail, Kidblog, and any other tools we can think of to make these connections. Teachers get a community of other educators to do a global project with, hopefully inspiring them to continue these connections through the year."
