Using Student Feedback for 21st Century Learning - 0 views

  •
T&L blogger Ryan Bretag recently sat down with his students and asked them about 21st-Century Learning strategies. Their suggestions are amazing. Read the whole piece here: http://www.techlearning.com/blogs.aspx?id=15776 Some snippets: Each discussion point started and ended with the focus on learning. For example, the students talked about creating a learning environment that was about learning not just memorization. To do this, they wanted to seek out partnerships both locally and globally in order to build connections that would foster a "learning to learn" movement where students are learning for learning, open to learning, and innovative. Clearly, textbooks were not fast enough nor diverse enough in their eyes. They longed for ways to interact with materials that were updated frequently and offered a wealth of perspectives. In fact, a good portion felt there was a need to move beyond the textbook because "information changes to rapidly" for textbooks to be the main source in the classroom. Along with this, information and resources needed to come in a variety of formats if the curriculum was going to remain progressive and current: narrative, fiction, digital, multimedia, and non-fiction.

great model for staff dev program on web 2.0 in T&L About Learning 2.0 @ Mac What is Learning 2.0 @ Mac & why are we doing it? Learning 2.0 @ Mac is a hands-on, immersive learning programme that provides an opportunity to explore Web 2.0 tools and the impact these tools are having on libraries & library service. All participants are encouraged to use the programme as an opportunity to check out 2.0 technologies and think about ways in which McMaster Libraries can use these tools to deliver innovative library services. Learning 2.0 @ Mac is all about exploration, discovery, and play! How does it work? For 12 weeks (starting February 12, 2007), participants will use freely available online tools (such as Blogger, WordPress, Bloglines, and del.icio.us) to complete a number of activities. Each week focuses on a specific type of tool (e.g. blogs, RSS, wikis) and each activity will give participants a chance to explore the tool and consider the ways in which it can be used in a library environment. Participants are encouraged to use their blogs (which they will set up in week 2) to discuss their thoughts about and reactions to the tools and technologies they explore.

Hal Richman - Methodology - 0 views

"Bernard Woods (Goss Gilroy Inc.) and I have developed a Methodology to provide a variety of stakeholders with a roadmap in addition to rigorous methods and tools for specifying and evaluating learning, training and development (LT&D). The Methodology gives senior managers, learning, training and development professionals, professional evaluators and similar stakeholders what they need to make a convincing case to senior management about improvements in work performance and organizational results. The Methodology is not positioned to replace other techniques and methods, but to complement them. We are trying to provide a more formal way for people to understand their business/work problems at a systemic level, assess if learning, training and development (LT&D) is useful for solving them and if so, provide a minimalist set of tools for evaluating LT&D initiatives that enable drawing a line of sight to organizational results.
