  COBs are as the name suggests chips die bonded directly to a circuit board usually made from Aluminium containing multiple chips in close proximity. Normally these will be produced specifically to customer requirments. They will also require a custom moulded lens to focus the light that is emitted from each chip. The beauty of COB modules is that they provide very uniform high output can be obtained within and relatively small area. Again COB modules require very specific drive electronics and cooling to maintain reliability and output
