Updated each year, the A to Z Guide to Afghanistan Assistance aims to enhance general understanding of the array of actors, structures and government processes related to aid and reconstruction efforts in the country. The guide provides: a wide-ranging glossary of assistance terms, an overview of Afghanistan's system of government, a series of country and city maps, key primary documents, and an extensive contacts directory that includes government agencies, NGOs, donors, and international actors

This map is updated monthly and was last updated March 2013. This map service is designed to be used as a basemap and as a reference map. The map service includes administrative boundaries, cities, water features, physiographic features, parks, landmarks, highways, roads, railways, airports, and buildings overlaid on land cover and shaded relief for added context.

In 2001, the reconstruction and stabilisation of Afghanistan was formally launched with the signing of the Bonn Agreement. Since then, NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and a range of other international and Afghan stakeholders have worked to promote security, development and legitimate governance. Their work has been indelibly affected by the 2001 Bonn Agreement and has been refined in light of the Afghanistan Compact, the Kabul Conference and other key events and documents. In December 2011, a decade after the first Bonn Conference, more than 1,000 delegates from 90 countries re-convened in that same German city to outline the path for Afghanistan's transition. This Map Library are assembled by The Afghanistan Team at the Civil-Military Fusion Centre and consists of hundreds of maps of Afghanistan and the surrounding region. The maps in the collection cover varying scopes, from regional and national levels to provincial, district and even city levels. The maps reflect information on a wide range of topics, themes and sectors, including humanitarian aid, infrastructure, natural resources and security, among others. The maps have been collected from credible open-sources, including international organisations, research bodies, governmental agencies and others.

On 08 July 2012, a decade after the first Tokyo Conference, governments, international organisations and others will re-convene in that same city to pledge assistance to Afghanistan for the remainder of the transition process and beyond 2014.
