This Map Library are assembled by The Afghanistan Team at the Civil-Military Fusion Centre and consists of hundreds of maps of Afghanistan and the surrounding region. The maps in the collection cover varying scopes, from regional and national levels to provincial, district and even city levels. The maps reflect information on a wide range of topics, themes and sectors, including humanitarian aid, infrastructure, natural resources and security, among others. The maps have been collected from credible open-sources, including international organisations, research bodies, governmental agencies and others.

This map is updated monthly and was last updated March 2013. This map service is designed to be used as a basemap and as a reference map. The map service includes administrative boundaries, cities, water features, physiographic features, parks, landmarks, highways, roads, railways, airports, and buildings overlaid on land cover and shaded relief for added context.

The World Factbook provides information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 267 world entities. Our Reference tab includes: maps of the major world regions, as well as Flags of the World, a Physical Map of the World, a Political Map of the World, and a Standard Time Zones of the World map

StatPlanet is a browser-based interactive data visualization and mapping application. Use it to easily and rapidly create visualizations from simple Flash maps to advanced infographics.

This site is a platform for sharing data in response to early warnings about increased food insecurity in the Sahel region of West Africa. The platform allows regional and international organizations to share and visualize their data describing the situation in the Sahel. By pulling together data sources into one site, the platform offers the ability to strengthen data sharing between partners and donors. A common operating picture is critical for a coordinated response, and this platform helps bring together critical datasets to inform the response. All datasets are offered in both raw data formats and processed map layers. Map layers are retrieved and integrated into the site using API calls from each partner. This allows the seamless data sharing between partners into a single site while keeping data ownership decentralized. Data and APIs are publicly available for download and use. All maps are powered by MapBox Hosting. This site is built using a public Github repository.

This reference map includes administrative boundaries, cities, protected areas, highways, roads, railways, water features, buildings and landmarks, overlaid on shaded relief and land cover imagery for added context. The map includes global coverage down to ~1:144k scale and more detailed coverage for North America down to ~1:9k scale.

Free, collaborative maps are uniquely valuable to humanitarian work, especially in places where base map data is often scarce and out of date. The Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team [H.O.T.] now has a website at hot.openstreetmap.org

Mapping for Results visualizes the locations of World Bank Bank-financed projects to better monitor development impact, improve aid effectiveness and coordination, and enhance transparency and social accountability. In combination with the subnational socio-economic indicators such as poverty, health, malnutrition, and population density it helps to better target development assistance

DIVA-GIS is a free computer program for mapping and geographic data analysis (a geographic information system (GIS). With DIVA-GIS you can make maps of the world, or of a very small area, using, for example, state boundaries, rivers, a satellite image, and the locations of sites where an animal species was observed. We also provide free spatial data for the whole world that you can use in DIVA-GIS or other programs
