When a child with cerebral palsy is unable to attend school, parents may opt to have the school come to them. By law, Home and Hospital Teaching (HHT) is a program that must be offered to students who are unable to attend a regular school program due to a physical or emotional condition. Normally, these programs are offered for a short period of time, but in some cases are appropriate for long term education.

NICHD program focuses on developing research that links PCCR medicine and science to the epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of childhood disabilities. The effort sponsors competitive research on all aspects of PCCR-including critical analyses of outcomes for children who are survivors of trauma, congenital anomalies, neonatal asphyxia, infectious processes, septic shock, and many other less common, but still devastating hildhood processes. The PCCR program also provides support for the Pediatric Critical Care Scientist Development Program (PCCSDP) , a national faculty training and career development program that develops successful pediatric critical care physician scientists conducting research to enhance the scientific understanding, clinical management, and rehabilitation of pediatric critical illness.

PROGRAMS Include: The Epilepsy Center, The Spine Center, the Brain Injury Programs, Adult Hydrocephalus Center, Pain Management program and Traumatic Brain Injury as well as several other programs. NPPS serves as a national resource for the latest educational and research information about playground safety.

MIUSA works in four main areas to provide programs and services including:National Clearinghouse on Disability & Exchange (NCDE) International Development & Disability MIUSA International Exchange Programs Women, Disability and DevelopmentSince 1995. NACD provides neurodevelopmental evaluations and individualized programs for children and adults, updated on a quarterly basis. As a family-centered organization. Stresses parent training and parent implementation of the program. Eclectic organization, gathering and utilizing the newest strategies that yield success and incorporating them into programs custom-designed for each client. Support provided to families through video reviews, e-mail and telephone sessions. Chapters can be found across the United States.

Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) can change the respiratory dynamics and performance of the inspiratory and expiratory muscles, affecting ventilatory capacity. This was a randomized, controlled, open study to test the impact of a physiotherapeutic program of aerobic exercises on respiratory muscle strength, in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Patients with AIS were randomly assigned to the aerobic exercise-training program group or the no treatment group. There was a significant increase in Pimax and Pemax in the group which received physiotherapy.

Provides tools to help Marylanders with disabilities and seniors enjoy the same rights and opportunities as other citizens. These tools are called "assistive technology" or "AT". Assistive Technology (AT) is any item needed to live, work or learn more independently. The National Early Childhood Transition Center's mission is to examine factors that promote successful transitions between infant/toddler programs, preschool programs, and public school programs for young children with disabilities and their families.
