The Games Businesses Play with Customers Boomers and Generation X will remember the days when the Yellow Pages was the encyclopedia of local business. Now services such as Foursquare bring the Yellow Pages alive. Add to the fact that the people we know and trust share their experiences and endorsements or critiques with every checkin, we’re given access to something quite remarkable. Additionally, businesses are given a special opportunity to learn more about the people who are checking-in and also about those who are not. Foursquare offers a powerful set of business tools that can help local businesses, chains, destinations, you name it, more effectively connect with the people who can not only keep them in business, but grow it as well.

Google+ is already indexed and searched by Google, making marketing searches much easier than other platforms. Just drop “site:plus.google.com” before any search in Google, and you’ll see what people are saying about you inside the platform.

Don’t think “social network.” Think “communications backbone.” This tool allows for private collaboration (privacy is much easier to understand here, but it does require some learning), and permits a “one stop” kind of area for talking internally and externally without causing problems. and it works with email, not in lieu of email.

Google+ evolves from Gmail. No matter what the kiddies say, email is still the digital communications backbone of the modern world. SMS might feel like second place, but it’s a distant second. Google+ is very tied to Gmail, with hundreds of millions of users. It feels very natural as an extension in a way that Twitter and Facebook do not.

Suggested management solution from 1 of the vendors present at this session: - create a separate iTunes account for each iPad you have - then have 1 account to hold the money: that account then “gifts” money to individual iTunes account (gift certificates) So now as things exist, we buy large ($100) cards for our main, master iTunes account - we also purchase smaller cards ($10) for innovator teachers to try different apps

Although AR is not new, it is still in infancy especially applying in education.  As an educator, I think AR has great potentials in teaching and learning. Google on Wednesday announced Google Keep, a note-taking service similar to Evernote, for both the Web and android 4.0+ (Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean) devices. You can try the service out now for yourself at Drive.Google.com/Keep or download the android app from the Google Play Store.

Over 1/2 of children under 12 who use iPads use them for educational purposes. 10% of children under 1 use mobile technology, 39% of kids age 2-4, and by age 5-8, 54% of kids are using mobile technology. The majority of parents now agree that technology can be used for educational purposes, and they’re no longer as opposed to its use as they once were! While 46% of apps that are used by kids 12 and under, a whopping 42% of apps used are for learning math skills!
