Foursquare Now 10 Million Strong: Has Your Business Checked-in? Brian Solis - 0 views

  • The Games Businesses Play with Customers Boomers and Generation X will remember the days when the Yellow Pages was the encyclopedia of local business. Now services such as Foursquare bring the Yellow Pages alive. Add to the fact that the people we know and trust share their experiences and endorsements or critiques with every checkin, we’re given access to something quite remarkable. Additionally, businesses are given a special opportunity to learn more about the people who are checking-in and also about those who are not. Foursquare offers a powerful set of business tools that can help local businesses, chains, destinations, you name it, more effectively connect with the people who can not only keep them in business, but grow it as well.
  •
What we can learn is the creation of more meaningful experiences, from this Foursquare study, is that reaches out to people and engages them.

10 Things CMOs Need To Know About Google+ - On Marketing - Views On The Business Of Brands - Forbes - 0 views

  • Google+ is already indexed and searched by Google, making marketing searches much easier than other platforms. Just drop “site:plus.google.com” before any search in Google, and you’ll see what people are saying about you inside the platform.
  • Don’t think “social network.” Think “communications backbone.” This tool allows for private collaboration (privacy is much easier to understand here, but it does require some learning), and permits a “one stop” kind of area for talking internally and externally without causing problems. and it works with email, not in lieu of email.
  • Google+ evolves from Gmail. No matter what the kiddies say, email is still the digital communications backbone of the modern world. SMS might feel like second place, but it’s a distant second. Google+ is very tied to Gmail, with hundreds of millions of users. It feels very natural as an extension in a way that Twitter and Facebook do not.
  • ...1 more annotation...
  • A social network made by Google impacts search. Google isn’t saying it like that, because they wouldn’t want to cause a panicking stampede, but think about this: Google has all the data from Google+. They can’t get any data from Facebook. Google controls search. Where would you cast your vote for search-improvement activities?

knowledge management vs social media - 2 views

  •
This slideshare illustrates why social medias- blog, wiki etc alone is not the solution to the old problems of knowledge management. knowledge management and social media look very similar on the surface but are actually radically different at multiple levels, bother cultural and technical, and are locked in an undeclared cultural war.

Here Come the iPads - Now What? iPad Deployment « Moving at the Speed of Creativity - 2 views

  • App considerations - What store? - we have chosen to live within the spirit of agreements rather than line item agreements - on issue is: “The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance.” We have made peace with using the U.S. store and dealing with it, the Chinese store has far fewer apps and isn’t nearly as good a fit for our student population We created iTunes accounts with gift cards, purchased in the USA - no one used a credit card for apps Volume Purchasing Plan (VPP) is the answer to many of these questions - lets a site administrator have control over iPads and iOS devices in the school ecosystem - this is only available as of today in the United States (not in China) - is coming to other countries, the legal issues are being worked out
  • Suggested management solution from 1 of the vendors present at this session: - create a separate iTunes account for each iPad you have - then have 1 account to hold the money: that account then “gifts” money to individual iTunes account (gift certificates) So now as things exist, we buy large ($100) cards for our main, master iTunes account - we also purchase smaller cards ($10) for innovator teachers to try different apps

Unlike a lot of other services Speaker Deck doesn't appear to have a voice-over capability, but if you're just looking to share slides, Speaker Deck's clean and simple interface offers what most people need.

Casual Game Design » Building a prototype - 0 views

  • Advantages Building a prototype has several advantages.
  • Find out if the game works
  • Try out different ideas
  • ...9 more annotations...
  • Balance game rules.
  • Ease communication
  • Get feedback
  • Kinds of prototypes
  • Pencil and paper
  • Board games
  • Graphics program
  • The most sophisticated prototype is of course the one that is programmed on a computer. Because you can build this kind of prototype any way you want, it will be most like the final game. A programmed prototype allows you to test aspects of your game that the before-mentioned prototypes lack, like user interface, controls and timing. A programmed prototype is also easy to share with other people and is therefore great for communication and soliciting feedback. Of all prototypes discussed, the programmed prototype takes the longest to create and is the hardest to change, so I recommend you start using it only after you have the basics of your game design and rules well in place.

Augmented Reality (AR) in Education « Learning Technologies - 0 views

  • Although AR is not new, it is still in infancy especially applying in education.  As an educator, I think AR has great potentials in teaching and learning. We should examine the impact of AR on society, evaluate the implications of AR for education, and explore the integration of AR applications into teaching and learning environments.  To learn more about AR and its potentials and future in teaching and learning, I recommend the following videos.

Video Chat Becomes Social Networking's New Battleground - 0 views

  •
"On Wednesday, Facebook announced that it had partnered with Skype to let Facebook users call one another from their camera-enabled computers, simply by clicking on a button on a friend's Facebook profile or from the chat window. After a one-time download of Skype's technology, the video calls look to be painless and simple for anyone to use. Compare that to Hangout, Google's new video chat in its still invite-only social network Google+. Hangout is designed as a group chat application for impromptu socializing with friends. To start one, you press a button declaring you are open to hanging out, choose which circle(s) of friends to send the invite to, and up to 10 people can be in the room at any one time. The loudest talker gets the big space up top - and the group can collectively talk or even watch YouTube videos together. As young Marty McFly once said in a different context, your kids are going to love it."

IOS5, THE FIRST TRUE WEB APP READY PLATFORM - 0 views

  •
This is why i said ios5 is FIRST TRUE WEB APP READY PLATFORM!!! It quite a technical article but you want the pie of the story... Finally. Apple has been holding back its support for HTML5,even with Nitro engine on ios4.2 and making it very hard to develop HTML5 "MOBILE" webapp. IOS5 is able to support html5 libraries(most) and degrade gracefully to choose the best performance for the application. DollarDash runs so smoothly over mobile devices now and save me the hassle of writing illegal hacks for mobile devices. Pftt! Keeping up with technology definitely pays off!

  • Keep also lets you speak to it: the service transcribes voice memos for you automatically. Since we’re talking about Google here, there’s also a “super-fast search” function so you can find the note you wrote, read it, and then either archive or delete it.
  • Google on Wednesday announced Google Keep, a note-taking service similar to Evernote, for both the Web and android 4.0+ (Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean) devices. You can try the service out now for yourself at Drive.Google.com/Keep or download the android app from the Google Play Store.
