LessonNote, an iPad-based observation tool "Lesson Study Alliance and Project IMPULS are developing an application for iPad, the LessonNote, to help practitioners of lesson study improve the quality of their post-lesson discussions by improving the quality of observational data collected during the lesson. It has been tested in research lessons in both the U.S. and Japan. The first version of this application will soon be available for free from the iTunes store."

The economy has changed, probably forever. School hasn't. School was invented to create a constant stream of compliant factory workers to the growing businesses of the 1900s. It continues to do an excellent job at achieving this goal, but it's not a goal we need to achieve any longer. In this 30,000 word manifesto, I imagine a different set of goals and start (I hope) a discussion about how we can reach them. One thing is certain: if we keep doing what we've been doing, we're going to keep getting what we've been getting. Our kids are too important to sacrifice to the status quo.

Eveleen, this could be one of our future iOS projects... using facial / gesture recognition in e-learning (sims)?

A very interesting area that our future ET programmer could take a look at... perhaps we can find a way to integrate e-portfolio learning with mobile geolocation / other data types using this Google App Engine. Oh yes, it's free too.

We can consider this for developing more advanced features for our NIeFolio... first thing comes to mind is developing a proper tag-cloud for NIeFolio.

A polished site for recording, uploading and sharing audio files... it offers the ability to share audio files with social tagging on FB, Twitter and Tumblr, and also timed comments too. Seems to be getting more and more popular. Perhaps we can use its API for our Well Said app...

An excellent code repository / version for all sorts of code - considered to be the "Facebook" of software programming. Contains many code recipes for iOS programming too. Perhaps the MD team could consider creating a free educational account with this?

A powerful example of direct manipulation in user interfaces using the now-standard affordances of swipe, pinch and push. What are some ways we can enhance our future e-learning apps to reduce the adoption barrier among potential e-learners?

A course registration system implemented in Google Docs. This template lets you send out a customized reply to people who register for a course. Your students can fill out a form to indicate which session they want to attend. Based on other submissions, the script can figure out which sessions are still open and send an automatic reply thanking people for registering and informing them of which session they got into.

This could be very helpful for us ETs, especially when creating custom forms. This even allows you to record the Google accounts of the users...
