Twitter Music - 0 views

  • The app, to be called Twitter Music, could be released on iOS by the end of this month, according to a person familiar with the matter. Twitter Music suggests artists and songs to listen to based on a variety of signals, and is personalized based on which accounts a user follows on Twitter. Songs are streamed to the app via SoundCloud. Twitter Music, which is set to arrive in the wake of key competitor Facebook overhauling the music section of its News Feed, shows Twitter taking new steps into becoming a full-fledged media company. The app acknowledges the key role music has played in drawing new users to the service -- particularly younger, mainstream users. Pop stars have some of Twitter's most popular accounts, with followings in the tens of millions. The TwitterMusic account has 2.3 million followers -- not a bad perch from which to launch an eponymous app

Design Thinking for Educators - 2 views

  •
This website is good. They describe their beliefs on selling their thinking process to creating an experience for learners. Their process is 1)Discovery, 2)Interpretation,3)Ideation,4)Experimentation 5)Evolution... illustrated in their case studies before they chunk out their product. Perhaps our department have the same manner of process before we come out our products. Perhaps this could be a less vague idea for our audience in term of showing what we do less descriptive but more case studies.

Social Media Is A Part Of The User Experience - 0 views

this article mentioned the roles of implementing social media in their business. In the last few paragraphs, it was mentioned that there was so many community on different social media tools and these users do not know what is going on in other channels. This happened to the case in our scenario in CeL where we have so many portals and channels. How can users of these community actually see their responses, interactions across. This was very much inline with what we going for in our marketing plan. - to stage CeL website as a main hub to these channels.

Why Serious Games differ to elearning; it's obvious no? - 1 views

  •
Very interesting. This articles talks about pacing in activity by using example of gaming. I have always believed in progressive advancement in difficulty or challenge, reward or difficulties ( be it anything) then this article differed this view. Example if you eat good restaurant food everyday, your taste bud will soon fail to distinguish good or bad food and just learn to accept. this could be applied to things we do in life - challenges, job satisfactions or even learning to get better engagement. It enlighten me on how true this is- in game series when they do or do not uses this approach, the successful one in the series are those used this such as MGS1 and MGS3 in the series and why not 2 because this factor - pacing.

A website that markets to audience should contains these 4 features : - Describing Expertise - Building Your Reputation - Generating Leads - Nurturing Sales Unfortunately we often overlook or mishandle these things because we're too focused on using our websites - or the process of designing them - to express ourselves.

3G powers Singapore school's 21st century classroom - 1 views

  •
NIE is mentioned in this article talking about mobile technology in schools. And the platform chosen was Windows.... The National Institute of Education of Singapore is assisting teachers with the development of customized curriculum in English, Science and Chinese that leverages the benefits of mobile, Internet-connected, learning devices and provides students with new learning opportunities that are not possible with paper and pencil. We co-design technology enabled lessons with the teachers and provide professional development to teachers that enable them to enact lessons using smartphones. It is critical to empower teachers to orchestrate the transformed classroom to support students' personalized learning," says Professor Looi Chee Kit of the National Institute of Education. All smartphones are equipped with MyDesk, a next-generation mobile learning platform tailored to leverage the capabilities of Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system. MyDesk enables each student to access his or her assignments, relevant websites that contain podcasts, textual material and video clips and educational applications, such as concept mapping, drawing and animating, to practice both self-directed and collaborative learning.

User Expectations with Mobile Apps - 0 views

  •
mobile application design that developers should keep in mind: Users will not tolerate mobile apps that are perceived as slow to open or operate. Speed is even more important for apps than it is for websites on a computer. Users are often accessing these apps when they have only a few minutes of downtime, and so speed is paramount. Apps do not allow multi-tasking the way that browsers on a computer do, so users require instant gratification. Simplicity of functionality and organization are key to good mobile app design. Mobile apps should be linear in design-this is distinct from a typical website approach that offers multiple paths and options. Apps present you with menus, you do what you need to do, and you move out. Mobile app users do not want to be overwhelmed by too many choices and distractions when they are trying to access a feature. People want fewer choices in mobile, because if you put too many choices in mobile, users will give up.

Nice read on mobile userability on the whole page. Advises and consideration into the UX experience before even jumping into development. one of the key to quality experience for our app users.
