I have used vocaroo before.   It is extremely user friendly. There is not need to set up an account!

Isis, I wanted to comment on this tool, stating I like the fact that is free and one does not need an account. Anyways, I wanted to add sticky note but I accidentally clicked on Vocaroo and the page popped up on my screen ready for me to provide my voice. Pretty cool!
  • Vocaroo is a free service that allows users to create audio recordings without the need to install any software. You don't even have to create an account to use Vocaroo. All you need to provide is a microphone. I used the microphone built into my MacBook to make the recording below. To create a recording just go to Vocaroo.com, click record, grant Voca
  • roo access to your mic, and start talking. After completing your recording, Vocaroo gives you the choice to publish it or to scrap it and try again. Vocaroo provides the option to embed the recording anywhere.

LangMedia: Resources for World Languages - Five College Center for the Study of World L... - 3 views

  • We aim to provide examples of authentic language spoken in its natural cultural environment so that students of all ages can better understand the interplay between a language and its culture. The videos were filmed with handheld camcorders and microphones provided by the Center. The video and audio quality varies.

This resource page gives access to spoken language and culture through authentic video and audio materials. There are materials in different languages on a variety of topics raging from basic communication, to culture, social life, transportation, etc. I found materials from some of Latin American countries and Spain on necessitites>emergency situations (Emergency Room, Taking the Physical Exam, etc.) for my Medical Spanish class.
  • Students should be aware that we have tried to remain true to the language our subjects actually uttered. Therefore, we have not corrected grammatical errors and the videos sometimes show highly colloquial language, local slang, and regional specific speech patterns.

Visuals for Foreign Language Instruction - 2 views

  • This site contains hundreds of visual aids (illustrations) that can be used to support instructional tasks such as describing objects and people (i.e., teaching vocabulary) or describing entire events and situations (i.e., teaching grammar).
    • MariaEmicle Lopez

What I find useful from using illustrations on this page is that they are in clipboard design and are free of words in English or any other language. Each illustration allows for a variety of activities raging from reviewing vocabulary, grammar, being creative using different skills: writing, speaking; individual or small group work.

French 2 Class Comics - 0 views

  •
Fabulous Class Comic in French. Another brilliant activity that can be conducted over a number of months and allows a fair bit of freedom to students to be creative as well as engage different intelligences in the classroom (visual, verbal, logical, etc.). Plus, it is highly collaborative for all and takes the teacher away from being the knowledge expert to the a more authentic creative position.

Tech Learning : Product Review: Boomwriter - 1 views

  •
Here is an article that describes boomwriter, a technology tool that allows students do collaborative writing. Activities may have to be simplified for beginning level students, but I can see how this might work well with higher level students as well as with native speakers.

Have not thought of using synchronous tools before in my language classes until I took this CARLA class. This paragraph helps explain why they are useful.
  • "low anxiety situations, containing messages that students really want to hear"
  • White (2003) highlighted the benefits of using web-based, real-time (synchronous) interaction and communication as follows: it is spontaneous; it motivates learners who develop a sense of community and gain energy from the group; it offers opportunities for peer feedback; and it supports the development of interactive competence.

Can't highlight but here. Probably because the articles were scanned.

Hitosugi, C. I. (2011). Using a social networking site in Japanese class. In E. Forsythe, T. Gorham, M. Grogan, D. Jarrell, R. Chartrand, & P. Lewis (Eds.), In CALL: What's your motivation? Collected papers on the cutting edge of language learning practice (pp. 72-83). Tokyo, Japan: JALT CALL SIG. This is my article that I wrote a couple of years ago on NIng use. This is much shorter than the original one, but still conveys what I wanted; SNS has a place in classroom, students concern privacy.
