    A flipped classroom is a classroom that swaps the arrangement of knowledge imparting and knowledge internalization comparing to traditional classroom.In the flipped classroom,the roles of teachers and students have been changed and the class time should have a new plan.Information technology and activity learning construct an individuation and cooperative learning environment for learners to create new learning culture.Based on the analysis of literature of flipped classroom and some typical cases,we summarize a flipped classroom teaching model.We also describe the challenges in the implementation of the flipped classroom teaching.The paper provides an innovative way to reform teaching in Chinese schools.

      I think this is another great use of this tool and students can do this perhaps as an extra activity which will allow them to practice their new vocabulary without the pressure of receiving a grade for it. I also use this to create "Spanish in action" cartoons to embed in my announcements.

    There was a hyperlink to an article about whether we should still teach cursive. Apparently high schools are not doing it any more. My son stopped cursive in about the 5th grade and didn't have to use it and now he is struggling at the university because he can't read when the professor uses cursive in anything, like comments on his papers. I have to print when I leave him a note. Wow, technology is wiping out one of the long-standing activities that took humans decades to develop.

    I have to wonder if kids can write notes well without using cursive. I'd struggle and I still write by hand quicker than I can peck things out on a keyboard. Spell/grammar check are helpful, but I still wonder if the student pays any attention to corrections and can't write well without this automated help.

    I like the balanced way this piece presents some of the pros and cons of technology in education. Just this week I had a conversation with another educator who has encountered recent studies suggesting a link between handwriting (of any kind) and certain cognitive development. Some schools are now emphasizing handwriting instruction because it helps boost students' academic achievement.

    My daughter is 8 years old and she started learning cursive this year. So it must be back! I'm not sure if will help boost her achievement or not, but I'm glad she is learning it. I think the article made a good point about how students today have a short attention span and easily get off track. If they are typing a paper on the computer, for example, they can open a browser and start surfing the web. They don't necessarily stay focused on the task at hand. It is even hard for me sometimes. If I don't ignore email (just put it off until later, I mean), I would never get anything done!

    I've used this and really like it. The kids adapted to it very easily. You can have students type or record answers to audio, video, or photo prompts. You can also send back verbal feedback! One caution though, we had we not able to get the recording to work with Google Chrome on our 2010 MacBooks. Worked flawlessly in Safari. We're getting new laptops this year, so I'll have to see if we have the same problems. Will keep you posted on that.

      I've never heard of using QR codes this way in the classroom. I think the element of mystery or not knowing exactly what other groups are working on would be very intriguing for students.

      This to me is very important. There are always a couple students who will never want to participate in class, at least not orally. This will be such a relief to this type of student and I will be happy to count this as a way of participating in the course.

      I agree 100% there are many more introverted students that are wary of participating in class discussions, VT allows them to participate more without feeling uncomfortable.

      I like that students have the option of texting their response. Since I tech at a boarding school, those students that are in supervised study hall, may text their response so they won't interrupt others' studying. As long as I inform the proctors and the students don't stay on their devices for too long ;)

    I like what srafuller says about not expecting students to be like we were when we were students. I struggle with that in all the classes I teach, not just the foreign language. I work to be conscious of reaching students "where they are" every day. Not only that, but we need to be conscious (at least older teachers like me) of not teaching the way we were taught!

    I really like this article! Simple, to-the-point, useful suggestions for several on-line applications. I tried out Duolingo but was chagrined to find out they don't offer Russian (Ukrainian and Esperanto but not Russian?!). I could, however, study English from Russian, which has several activities (especially translation) that my students can use. Thanks for posting this article!

      So many students are so thrilled when you start talking about Germanic culture with them--as if they've been starving for it all along and are just waiting for those insights! Using some asynchronous and some classroom-based synchronous activities could be an excellent way to provide some of this information while concentrating in class on grammar, vocab, etc.
