  • You can create three different sets of QR codes to distribute to students or use a QR code generator like Visualead to create codes that have similar colors or background images.
  • For a social studies lesson, you might want your students to scan a set of codes that takes one group to National Geographic's website, another group to an image of a world map, and a third group to an encyclopedia entry about explorers.

      I've never heard of using QR codes this way in the classroom. I think the element of mystery or not knowing exactly what other groups are working on would be very intriguing for students.

    Create different color QR codes in order to separate the groups by task. Differentiated instruction but more discreet with the use of QR codes.

      I love this idea of an interactive bulletin board! Plus, this could be used as an interpretive activity w/o bulletin board: students describes someone/thing and listener has to decide who/what it is and draw or identify what is said. These recordings could be used over several classes/years.

  • Padlet can be used by students and by teachers. With padlet you can create an online post-it board that you can share with any student or teacher you want. Just give them the unique Padlet link. Padlet allows you to insert ideas anonymously or with your name. It’s easy to use and very handy.
  • Whoever has the Padlet board opened on his smartphone or computer, can see what’s on it and what everyone is writing. Students just have to take a device and start adding little sticky notes online. They can see all the ideas gathered on the teacher board immediately.

  • Sharing a Padlet board is easy; choose for a QR code or a link.
  • Let your students insert the link in the browser or in the Padlet app. They can ‘continue as guest’ so they just have to scan the qr code with the Padlet app or type in the URL, without creating an account. Shortly after, they will be directed to your first Padlet board.

      I've used goo.gl which is Google's URL shortener. I like it because it also generates a QR code. The code can then be printed out and used for listening practice (the project that I used it with was a recorded dialogue uploaded to YouTube).

      Pull classrooms, class periods, departments, etc. More centralized than a shared Google doc? I'm thinking yes and participants will be forced to be brief.

    Karen, I use a shortener when I have a very long URL - even to include in an email, or to advertise something I want people to go to (a survey I did) and some shorteners will let you pick your own ending so it can be something recognizable rather than random letters. I think Twitter does this automatically for you now.
