There are many, many blogs dedicated to the use of the English language. Some are fairly comprehensive; others are tightly focused on one aspect of language usage that should be corrected, protected, or mocked. Here is a sampling of those blogs for your enjoyment.

The top listed sites in a number of categories for these awards! They're not language-specific, but you can find a lot of good educational uses of blogs, tweets, wikis, podcasts, webinars, and other categories.

I've shared some of the apps from Niks blog already, there are some really great student and teacher tools for the language classroom and beyond. Short, easy to follow videos explaining each app are really useful. Watch out, though, found just a few links that are broken. Not all apps are free.

This is a blog that various people contribute to with reviews and instructions for a variety of tech apps and websites - that can be used for a variety of purposes, from video annotation to labeling photos and many more. This is a great resource--I'm looking in to the Global Education Certificate written up on the blog, it sounds like something my students would be really interested in pursuing.

This article is about England but has some good tips for beginning to engage students using social media. It also shows that other countries struggle with promoting the importance of FL learning too.

This easy-to-read introduction to SAMR (standing for "Substitution," "Augmentation," "Modification" and "Redefinition"), a model for helping integrate "technology tools into foreign-language classrooms," is blogged by a Chinese content and technology specialist who, I trust, has a lot of experience of incorporating media into Chinese learning activities. Besides clearly explaining how the SAMR model works for a L2 class via really useful tech tools such as Google Docs and Flipgrid, this blog also reveals a fact that our students "are not all 'digital natives,'" and encourages us, 21st-century educators, to "meet our students halfway to use tech for learning." I found the first two SAMR stages, namely, "Substitution" and "Augmentation," are very helpful for evaluating the interpretive mode implemented with appropriate media.

Larry Ferlazzo writes a column for the New York Times about using the NYT for ELLs - but these ideas could easily be adapted for FL teachers using news sites, too.   You should also check out Ferlazzo's blog.
