Interesting article for those who are curating for projects like CALLIS-VSL. Seems to ignore a few of the good tools that are not as visual, but still do the job with list sorting and tagging, like Diigo. Content curation is very important as students get into content-based and project-based learning.

This is a magic place where students can add to a drawing and write about it. One additional activity might be to explore some of the cultural assumptions expressed in the drawings. This is the actual tool for making a Google SearchStory. Its fun and easy and can give your students a new way of thinking about how they do searches for projects. Do forget to look at "a few useful tips" and the other help videos bookmarked here in Diigo.

This is about social bookmarking with Delicious, but all the commentary applies and many of the functions are the same as here in Diigo.

Google has created a multi-week free online course this summer (2011) as a kind of experiment in mass learning. You can read the discussions, view the videos, and use the resources, incluidng a Diigo group, asynchronously, so hop on board!

365 Things has a question per day to stimulate conversation and/or writing activities. Great to follow for warm-up activity every day of the year, or to delve into now and then for free writing. thanks to Martin Burrett from Diigo in Education.

This is a fun site that may stimulate writers and thinkers in your class. While the words may not be very useful for an academic course, and while vocabulary would be very hard to learn this way, it is a site that makes words and meanings enjoyable. You could have students write their own definitions before reading the related passage. Each word has a space for writing a sentence using the word. Thanks to Martin Burrett, Diigo in Education.

This page shows how a student website can be created and maintained. The topic is "digital health and wellness" or "digital citizenship" but can be revised and improvised on for other topics. The plan shows how teams are created, expectations for individuals within the team, grading, tasks, etc. Great lesson planning for a problem-based learning experience. T/H to J.
