Pics4Learning is a copyright-friendly image library for teachers and students.

The Pics4Learning collection consists of thousands of images that have been donated by students, teachers, and amateur photographers. Unlike many Internet sites, permission has been granted for teachers and students to use all of the images donated to the Pics4Learning collection.

"This addictive game plunks you down somewhere in the world using Google Street view. You literally start on some country road and the whole point of the game is to figure out where in the world you are. You can navigate down the road in the app, and you can turn around and zoom in to look more closely at things, but because the game often chooses the most remote locations, you often find yourself traveling for quite a while before you see any clues. Once you do see something-a road sign, ideally, or something at least with language on it-you can start figuring it out. "I don't even know if this is following the rules, but the times I've played this, I've been amazed at the number of resources I ended up pulling together to figure things out: I do Google image matches, use Google Translate to figure out what a language even is, and even look things up on Wikipedia to figure out if I'm on the right track. I've had four or five different tabs open to try and narrow down a precise location, and all the while, I'm learning stuff. I had no idea, for example, that there was an island called Gotland off the coast of Sweden! Capture anything anywhere, access it from computer, phone, or mobile, find it fast with keywords, tags, text inside images, share with students. A great tool.

"The following are some of the best free tools available online that can help teachers create quizzes." This blog links to some 16 online quiz makers with very short descriptions of each. For college/adults and K-12 also. Some sites have pre-made tests in such subject areas as history, geography, and grammar. Most allow different types of quizzes and some have games as well.

Aiden Yeh's English Advertising Class creates video TV commercials for selective (and inventive) products - advanced EFL learners.

Players begin by selecting a job which will provide the wages they have to survive on for a month. Then throughout the game players are confronted with challenges that they have to handle by making an "either or" choice. After each choice the player's account balance is adjusted. An interesting article on podcasting by Forbes online, predictin that podcasting is the future because of its ubiquity on both iOS and Android mobile phones. The younger generation is once again leading innovation's way with what to us older users was a technology of the 2000s. Podcasting has many uses for ESL/EFL, and having your students create a regular podcast series, scripting and recording it; or having them do podcast exchanges with students in another country -- these will be memorable learning experiences.

Inspiration for young artists. Add language lessons by writing or talking about what has been drawn, what colors are used, feelings expressed, etc.

Songs/music videos with lyrics side-by-side. Should be great for teens and young adult learners. (Also great if you never could understand those words!)
