    The article suggests capturing your Prezi with a screen capture tool to create a video. A work-around, but could be useful. I find screen captures are usually pretty fuzzy, however.

    Prezi allows you to create stunning presentations online. There is a free version, or a better quality academic free version with more features. Excellent for teaching content, and it is more like a video than an ordinary old ppt.

    A nice way to make presentations with a little zing and zip. Here is a sample of a way to introduce oneself: http://prezi.com/v4jugdsdpc4t/about-carla/. I can imagine these being used by students to get to know their peers--and their teacher at the beginning of the year. There doesn't seem to be a sound feature, however.

    Prezi is a flashy presentation program, but once you master the intricacies, creates very beautiful and visual compelling presentations. One advantage over the old PowerPoint is the ability to show how ideas relate to one another visually -- like visual Venn diagrams that swirl in and out, that grow as their significance increases. Worth a try. And available from the cloud, desktop, iPhone, and iPad.

But try Prezi, too. PowerPoint, as the presentation makes clear, seems to want you to fail. This slideshow shows how to overcome the inherent faults of the typical ppt theme and make your shows more interesting to students.

    Emaze is a much less complex presentation program than Prezi, but has similar interesting effects. Teachers use a variety of presentation programs to give variety to their lectures. Shows how to convert docs from other formats and how to use the desktop G-Drive.
