I caught a little bit of this on the History Channel right before Thanksgiving. After reading Mayflower I would like to go back and watch this movie again.

After reading Mayflower I wanted to find out more about the Pilgrims. This site has a lot of the same information from the book on a few pages instead of a couple hundred.

Founding Brothers This biography tells about how Hamilton got to be Secretary of Treasury. Talks about his frustration with Thomas Jefferson, his introduction of the first Bank of the United States, and his plans for a US Mint.

For the book "Founding Brothers." I loved the story of the duel between Burr and Hamilton and this website told a lot of what the book said in fewer (but less exciting and/or descriptive!) words. Just a snapshot of the story. Also has a couple small pictures.

Impact of web2.0 on children's development and needs/expectations.

Mount Rushmore is a tribute to President Roosevelt lifes works and accomplishments. I always wondered why Theodore Roosevelt was one of the presidents carved on the rock. After reading the River of Doubt, I now know why.

In our River of Doubt book, the author often compares Teddy Roosevelts son, Kermit, to his brother Elliott. Both had issues with alcohol and attempted suicide. T. Roosevelt could see these similarites and didnt' want his son to go down the same path of his brother. I found it interesting to learn more about his brother who he didn't want his son to turn out like!

Background information about Theodore Roosevelt.

This article has indepth information about the "Rubber Men" of South America. This group eventually wiped out the native tribes from 30,000 to less than 8,000. (By the tiime, Theordore Roosevelt traveled the River of Doubt the Rubber Men were few and far between because now the rubber plantations were in now growing in Southeast Asia.) This group provided great assistance to the Rondon/Roosevelt expedition toward the end of the trip.

I liked this article because talks about the Nhambiquaras tribe. This is the tribe that Rondon worked hard to bring peace with, "Die if need be, but never kill." *See picture of an Nhambiquara Indain with a bow-n-arrow in our River of Doubt book.

I thought this was an interesting article about Theordore Roosevelt and his expedition on the River of doubt. It mentioned that the timing of their trip was the height of the rainy season and was very unwise. In a nutshell it sums up the story nicely.

This is the first part of Roosevelt's expedition footage. There's no sound but motion pictures.

I loved watching the videos! I really enjoyed the scenes when they were on the river and on those skinny canoes!! It amazes me they made it out alive on those things!!

I thought this was an interesting article about Theordore Roosevelt's wife. After, reading this book, I wanted to learn more about this strong and caring person. I enjoyed the letters that were returned between herself and Theordore and Kermit! I think you will enjoy this article, too.

Really cool website for teachers who are planning to teach Amazon. Lots of resources.

Interesting Story about Kermit Roosevelt. He lead a very successful life but he also followed in his Uncle Elliott footsteps that involved heavy drinking. He committed suicide at the age of 54 years old.

Interesting, Kandace. I haven't looked into Kermit yet. That's surprising information for me.
