Students could also complete this activity based on different cities by finding the data online and then plotting it on a bar graph each day. ELLs could use the city they were from to get their data for their graphs. Students with learning disabilities that could not perform this activity on their own could be paired up with another student and work together to create the graphs. This could also be used as an at home activity for extra credit.

Next, as a class students will create a model hand using simple materials such as string, paper, and a pen or pencil.  Have the students create this hand and see how the "tendons" mimic the musculoskeletal system in a real human hand.

    Using paper, string, and salt, students will create a cone out of the paper that will act as their pendulum.  They will swing the pendulum so it just touches the pile of salt and watch the designs it makes.  Students can change the pendulum's direction to see if that changes the design.

      This would also be easy to use with a multiplication activities in the introduction to division because you can look at division from the reverse and then because students should be familiar with multiplication the basis for division will become easier to manage.
