The Tracy Elks Club's latest effort to help youngsters get into sports included a little coaching this summer from the golf pro at Old River Golf Course. This was the third of four week-long youth golf clinics hosted by the Elks and Old River. What she has instead is a historic title: She's the first woman to lead the Baraboo Elks Lodge.

Now why would the leadership of any lodge sell their building without requesting permission from GL? And this is a lodge that is 115 years old? SMH If true, that's just a perfect illustration how far this organization has fallen. We do not seem to be attracting people with business and administration abilities or if we do then they are not willing to take on leadership responsibilities.

Just as I predicted, these boys got the gift of a lifetime. .. our 100 yr old crown jewel 'the elks Home' for a song. Borrowed the money to pay the 4.5 million selling price (appraised value $15mm) and two years later get advanced $10mm more!!. I guarantee they won't be putting all that money in the Home but mostly in their back pockets. This article points out some crucial misinformation from GL. "We could never break even as the most residents we could have is 120", well these former consultants to the Elks Home knew better. They are at 185!!. Break even was well below that!! Tragic, sad and totally unnecessary.

What did GL expect by taking away this old lodge's building? Sometimes I wonder why I belong to an organization that exhibits such ineptitude!!
