Elks Home sale finally official - NewsAdvance.com : News - Lynchburg, Virginia Area - 0 views

A tragedy of epic proportions. Elks manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Sell $15 million facility for a third of it's value. Plus throw in 150 acres for these questionable buyers to sell off to developers. Shame on the Elks for abandoning 80 senior Elks and a 100 year legacy.

Local Elks Lodge celebrates 121 years | Green Bay - 1 views

good job and excellent public relations. However, the elks are a fraternal organization. Not a civic one. Community service work grows out of the bonds forged by the fireside of the Elks home. Not the other way around. Subtle but huge distinction

CareTrust REIT Acquires Virginia Independent and Assisted Living Community - NASDAQ.com - 0 views

Just as I predicted, these boys got the gift of a lifetime. .. our 100 yr old crown jewel 'the elks Home' for a song. Borrowed the money to pay the 4.5 million selling price (appraised value $15mm) and two years later get advanced $10mm more!!. I guarantee they won't be putting all that money in the Home but mostly in their back pockets. This article points out some crucial misinformation from GL. "We could never break even as the most residents we could have is 120", well these former consultants to the Elks Home knew better. They are at 185!!. Break even was well below that!! Tragic, sad and totally unnecessary.

  •
"This Sunday, October 18 at 10am, Project Church is moving to our new home at the Elks Theatre in downtown Rapid City and we want you to join us. This move signifies a new chapter in the story of Project Church. One year ago we began gathering at Alternative Fuel Coffee House in hopes of creating a community where people who are exploring the Christian faith can belong before they believe and where believers can grow in their relationship with God and be in community with one another."

"Myron Hawkins knew the Bellingham Elks lodge had become a second home when he looked into the eyes of a grateful mother who was leaving the annual Christmas party. "Years ago, a woman at our party expressed thanks when she told me, 'That's the only Christmas my kids will get,'' Hawkins recalled. "Now I know I'll never stop working with the Elks because of that one grateful comment.""

I'm sure chicago is an endless money pit. Need to have a program to move homeless vets out of that corrupt hell hole of a town. They could have done it if they haven't had given away the Elks home for a song. there was 200 acres and it is just so very hard to believe that this crown jewel of elkdom couldn't have been utilized for veterans.

frankie's pancakes: Daily Memory. Not to fond of the local elks lodge - 0 views

Guess the younger generation would rather pay market rates for drinks than associate with old Elks.
  •
Every Week at work we have "Thirsty Thursday" which usually takes place at the local Irish Pub called something like "Local Irish Pub" and we get our drinks and munchies. Usually three to four people show up, have a drink and head home. This week, someone brought up their distaste for the prices at the Irish Pub and that he knows of a place where the drinks are half price. "It's great" he says "It's called The Elk and the drinks are wicked affordable".

Watertown Daily Times Online - News - 0 views

The Watertown Elks are distributing free dictionary reference books to all of the public school third-grade classes in Watertown, Jefferson, Johnson Creek and Lake Mills. The local Dictionary Project is being funded through a donation from the Watertown Elks Lodge. The idea for The Dictionary Project began in 1992 when Annie Plummer of Savannah, Ga., gave 50 dictionaries to children who attended a school close to her home. Each year she continued to give this gift, raising money to help give more and more books so that in her lifetime she raised enough money to buy 17,000 dictionaries for children in Savannah.
