LeapFish search engine is quite impressive and I like it - 0 views

  •
I have pretty substantial experience with search engines; and like you, use them everyday to find relevant content. I first heard about this new search engine called LeapFish a few months ago when I met Lena Shaw at the first Silicon Valley Tweetup. Leapfish is also sponsoring the upcoming Tweetup this Wednesday at the Hotel Valencia. What I dig about Leapfish is that you can pretty much find every piece of content related to any specific search query. You can search Google, Yahoo, MSN and it also aggregates the top news from the AP, Youtube videos, Twitter trending topics, weather, etc. on the home page. As usual, I did a search for "Michael Brito" and was delighted to see the common results I usually see when I Google myself; but also on the same page without any additional clicks I was able to see blog mentions, videos and images. It's definitely a time saver and it has a clean interface. What I would love to see and I am sure they are working on this as we speak is a the aggregation of twitter search, foursquare, Yelp and other social tools. Customization would also make LeapFish stand out from rest. source:http://www.britopian.com/2009/09/20/leapfish-search-engine-is-quite-impressive/

The 5 Best Ways to Send Money in Worldwide Location - 0 views

  •
For someone who is new to transferring money across borders, this may seem like a challenge at first. International transactions have many complexities, unlike local transactions. Cross-border transactions generally require the communication of two or more financial institutions with different systems and procedures. All of them charge some sort of fee that the initiator of the transfer has to pay. Currency conversion is almost always required, which creates the need to know the current exchange rates. Intermediaries and even your trusted bank can sometimes seem to try to scam you on the exchange rate or fees. However, sending money abroad does not have to look like a minefield. Meeting a few simple criteria can make your transfers almost effortless. Goals and means People generally don't initiate money transfers in a frivolous way. You would have a very good reason to send money abroad. Depending on the reason, you will know how much you need to send and when. Like most other actions, an international transfer is initiated with the end goal in mind. For example, if the requirement is to pay for the higher education of a young family member, your goal will be a specific amount (semester fees) and a specific schedule (deadline). Based on the exchange rate, you would calculate the amount you need in your local currency. You must then add the amount that your bank or other services would charge and arrive at a total. Determine the duration of the transfer (say, four days). Count down from there and you will have your date sent. Easy! The cost of convenience Common online channels for international wire transfers are banks, card payments and independent money transfer services. There are usually several channels for medium and regular transfers, each with advantages and disadvantages. Fewer channels are available for very large or urgent transfers. The choice of channel largely depends on the requirement. For example, suppose you live abroad and send money to pay

PubSub - Home - 0 views

  •
PubSub is a real-time search engine for syndicated (RSS/ATOM) content on the web. Our engine can find the latest posts from blogs and social media sites such as Twitter and Friendfeed, usually within minutes of their publication and sometimes within seconds. Think of it as a kind of feed reader - one where you tell us what you're interested in using simple search queries, and we'll find the relevant content out of the many tens of thousands of feeds we're constantly scanning. The Search page presents up-to-date search results in a single query format. The Real Time page allows you to create multiple standing searches, which you can then monitor as new results appear in realtime.

Robert Witham » Life After Blogs: What's Next in Social Media - 0 views

The arguments that blogs are dead usually center around several key points. 1. The growth of high-traffic, high-profile, multi-author blogs destroys any hope for the average individual blogger to be discovered and gain any meaningful audience. 2. Newer forms of social media, like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr make the need for personal blogs obsolete. 3. The never-ending comment spam, coupled with comments from obnoxious readers, simply require too much energy and time. These observations are completely accurate based on my experience with blogs and the Internet.

Finally Gmail's rich-text editor become more powerful with the addition of the new features in Gmail Labs called Insert Images. The major drawback in Gmail text editor is people can't insert in to the editor. Initially we have to attach the images and this usually displays at the bottom of the mail client as thumbnails.
