Underwear  By: Mary Elise Monsell - 0 views

  •
    This adorable and very funny children's book is about a zebra and orangutan who loves underwear. They have a friend that is a buffalo, who is always in a bad mood. They challenge the buffalo to say the word underwear 10 times without laughing. Do you think he can do it? This book is perfect for little children, more so the younger, primary grades such ad K-3 grade. Its main strength is how funny it is and it gives children a break from their day to sit and listen to a very fun and silly story. From a teachers perspective, I think it would be great to read when you just need to step back from everything and take a deep breath. I own this book, so if you would like to look at it, just let me know. Enjoy (;

Niagra Falls, or Does It? By Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver - 0 views

  •
    This book is part of a series called, Hank Zipzer, The World's Greatest Underachiever. The author Henry Winkler wrote this book based on his own experiences in school. He was diagnosed as having a learning disability known as dyslexia. Hank Zipzer is smart, creative and funny. He tries to do really well in school but for some reason always seems to get into trouble. This is a great book that children with learning disabilities can relate to. The age range it is aimed for can be a difficult age for children to deal with their differences. This is a book that all kids will enjoy.

Sometimes I'm Bombaloo by Rachel Vail - 0 views

    "Sometimes I'm Bombaloo" is a great story about a girl who loses her temper. The author uses a funny word as a metaphor for angry. This book shows what Katie is feeling when she is angry and what helps to calm her down so she is herself again. This would be a very helpful book for children who seem to have some trouble dealing with their anger.

Judy Schachner - Skippyjon Jones - 0 views

    Skippyjon Jones is the first in a series of books about a Siamese cat who thinks he is anything but! The cat's name is Skippyjon Jones. In this book, he goes into his closet and make believes he is in Mexico. When Skippyjon Jones gets to Mexico, he encounters many Chihuahuas whom he plays and sings with. This book has a lot of Spanish words and phrases and also features a lot of rhyming. The illustrations are fantastic and support this imaginative character very well. Skippyjon Jones has previously won the E.B. White Read Aloud Award; after reading the book, it is evident to see why. Overall, this is an extremely funny book and students will love it!

ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY, by Judith Viorst - 0 views

  •
    Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, by Judith Viorst, provides a funny yet thought-provoking look, through the eyes of a child, at how some days can just go all wrong. Alexander is a plain-spoken, somewhat emotional narrator who tells the story of his bad day. Some of the humor of the book comes from irony, as the reader comes to see that much of Alexander's bad day is self-inflicted. However, the emotions are very real, and it seems a very universal human story that shows us how events and attitudes can affect one another. As a teacher, this is the perfect book to pull out on a difficult day so that the children can release their pent-up emotions by bridging their own feelings with Alexander's.
