The Petrified Forest Park is in Tak Province, Northern Thailand, and boasts the longest Tree Fossil in the World. This tree fossil is 72.2 metres long. The petrified tree fossil was discovered along with many others after an aerial survey of the area. The petrified tree trunks found in the Petrified Forest Park were covered up by rock sediments formed about 2 million years ago in the Quaternary period. So far about 50 specimens have been discovered in a 35 Sq Km area.

The Thai Fruit, Passiflora Edulis has the exotic name of Passion Fruit. In Thailand, this Thai Fruit is known as Saowarot. Passiflora Edulis has purple, yellow or brownish skin depending on the variety and is oval or round in shape. The unripe Passion Fruit has green skin. When fully ripe the skin may become wrinkled but this does not affect the flavour of the fruit inside.

Sabaidee Santitham Restaurant is located next to the Santhitham Guest House and is under the same management. On entering the bar area you are immediately confronted with a long curved counter in the middle of which is a glass topped, sunken aquarium running the full length. The bar menu offers the usual spirits, cocktails, beers and soft drinks.

Like much of the world, Thailand is reeling from the effects of the current pandemic A(H1N1) 2009 or Swine Flu. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) as of 7 July, there were a total of 2,657 laboratory-confirmed cases of swine flu reported from seven South East Asia Region (SEAR) countries. Throughout the region, only Thailand has had fatalities with nine deaths.
