Evidence: At certain points the novel becomes melodramatic but not enogh to be made a big deal over. The novel needs to be melodramatic at times because the tone needs to flow with the story to emphasize the mood. In addition the story closely relates to the known fact about the authors life which is an element of being overly symmetrical.

His claim is that: his works present an element of "credibility" due to his apparent backround and life experiences. Arugment: The credibility of Hosseini is dirrupted by the "fictional" events that preceed through out the story. This article suports my thesis that Hossseini was compelled to write a novel pertaining to his life in the "Kite Runner" but then uses literary credibility in "A thousand Splendid Suns" to make both novels very strong by drawing from personal experiences.

    Takeuchi successfully provides input on her finding of innocence as a major collective theme throughout Salinger's novels, especially in reference to Seymour. Argument being that everyone has their innocence and is only remembered for their innocence, and that once the innocence of the being is lost, so are they as a whole. therefore a claim made is that once the afflicted sets hands or is first to get to, an innocent, the other persons innocence is lost because of their subjection to a world run off lack of innocence. Support taken from Takeuchi from the novel The Catcher in the Rye is, "The snow was very good for packing. I didn't throw it at anything, though. I started to throw it at a car that was parked across the street. But I changed my mind. The car looked so nice and white. Claim: Mentioning the eggs and the fowls at these Saturday night parties have some kind of resemblence to "The Feast of Trimalchio" in Petronius's The Satyricon. Evidence: "Fitzgerald first pays homage to his classical indebtedness by writing that "his career as Trimalchio was over" when Gatsby stops his Saturday night parties (119). He then adds a satiric bite to the egg and fowl allusions with the aid of the idiomatic meanings of "chicken" when he describes Nick's glimpse of Tom and Daisy "sitting opposite each other at the kitchen table with a plate of cold fried chicken between them and two bottles of ale [...] conspiring together" (152-53).     Argument: Dexter Filkins, of the New York Times Book Review, delivers a tough critique of Where Men Win Glory by Jon Krakauer. Filkins believes that "This would have been a better book had it been a hundred pages shorter." Claim: Much of the background about Pat Tillman's life is unnecessary. Also, the tiny details that Krakauer recounts are "banal and inconsequential." Evidence: "Tillman doesn't arrive in Afghanistan until Page 230." The book is supposed to be about the death of Pat Tillman, and the ensuing cover-up, but Krakauer talks too much about Tillman's early life and the NFL. However, once Tillman reaches Afghanistan and Krakauer starts telling the story he promised, the book takes a turn for the better.     Catch-22 in itself is a book about moral values and the inherent goodness of man despite the evil characters placed throughout, at least that's what the author here is trying to convince us of. He offers an almost sarcastic view of the dark themes prevalent throughout the novel. He argues that the evil intentions of character's are not sinister but more opportunistic. Almost as if just a normal man who, for the most part, will take advantage of an opportunity. The author also argues that Heller is attack things like religion, military, politics, corruption and other large topics of interest. The novel itself is about an opportunist who takes advantage of his situation, which could simply represent a number of different social issues during the time. The author himself thinks that Heller may be addressing all of them at once.

    Ron Evans's purpose is to thoroughly explain Holden as a character in Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye. The theme of human connection is apparent in his criticism because he states that Holden is in "search for authentic human contact and love" (Evans). The structure of the argument is very organized and coherent with each other. In the beginning of his argument Evans characterized Holden and talks about how he is a "mythic-quest hero". He also describes Holden as a distraught teen on a journey towards self-discovery and realization. Towards the end Evans connects the theme and an element of plot to Salinger's other pieces of work such as Nine Stories and Franny and Zooey. The evidence provided by the author helps his case due to his specific examples and details. Evans uses a few characters from the novel to further enhance his portrayal of Holden. He concludes that Salinger "captured the attention of a generation of readers seeking reassurance during the rough transition from childhood to adulthood" (Evans). His conclusion adds to his bias since he believes The Catcher in the Rye will be read by most young adult readers. Also, the fact that Evans thinks that Salinger influenced an entire generation contributes to his bias and assumptions.
