Charity:water is a nonprofit organization that brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. In this article charity:water has helped Uganda put in safe water wells for the women to collect in a more efficient way to bring back to their families. Without this, the women would continue to walk three miles a day to a putrid river or a disease infested swamp. This brought disease and death more many children and families. But with the help from charity:water, the CDR will improve along with HDI.

CARE is an international charity organization focused on improving the quality of life and development of people, increasing their HDI, that I would like to support.  The charity would improve the quality of life and development of people (increase their HDI) by helping people, women to be more successful in their day-to-day life, and by supporting certain projects that work to end the existence of poverty, and that support humans.  By helping women and other people and being against poverty they are working to increase countries' HDI's because if women are given more help, then they could know ways they could improve their life (e.g. getting a job, attending classes, etc.).  This would help the economy, thus improving their country's HDI.

MEDA is an international economic development organization whose mission is to create business solutions to poverty. By giving people tools to create their own businesses, their hope is that these individuals will become financially independent and will be able to create a better life for themselves and their families.

MEDA would be a great organization because the increase in businesses would help the economy and provide job opportunities, increasing the country's HDI.

UNICEF is a international organization which helps children in developing countries to overcome obstacles. These obstacles are usually in the form of poverty, violence, discrimination, and disease. By helping the children with these issues they will end up living a longer, healthier life.

UNICEF would be a great organization to support because if it works to fight poverty, the country would hopefully become wealthier, and the HDI would improve.

WaterAid America is a non profit organization providing clean water to developing countries. Many children die every year because of sicknesses they get from drinking dirty water. By providing clean water, children and adults will be able to live longer and healthier lives.

Save the Children is an organization that aids countries all over the world, some that are struggling with extreme poverty and sickness. For example, 66% of people living in Niger are living below the poverty line. Save the Children helps countries like Niger to have happier healthier children, which will eventually increase the life expectancy rate and lower child mortality rates.

As the first Millennium Development Goal, world hunger is a huge obstacle that intervenes with development. If a charity, like The Hunger Project, could increase a country's income and therefore reduce hunger, it could lead to other advancements in education and health care. What I really like about this organization is that it teaches the people how to improve their own development instead of just giving them money and creating an undependable reliance to organizations like this.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital strives to find cures for cancer and life threatening diseases like cancer. The part about St. Jude that is different from most charities is that they conduct their program on the donations they receive so that families don't have to worry about medical bills for their child. This charity could help raise a countries HDI because it allows children to have a longer and healthier life. This in turn allows them to have the access to knowledge through schooling which can help them contribute to their countries economy, also raising the HDI level of that country.

Doctors Without Borders provides medical care to people in countries that need it, such as countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is a humanitarian organization that does not discriminate against people when treating them, and saves lives threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe. By providing medical care to people, they can have a longer and healthier life.This increases development by bettering the health of the country, which leads to more productivity, causing economic growth and better overall conditions in the country. Doctors Without Borders has a positive impact on a country and its HDI.

Engineers Without Borders (USA) is a humanitarian organization that designs and builds engineering projects in developing regions. By implementing sustainable projects in impoverished areas, Engineers Without Borders (USA) are improving the standard of living in developing areas. The organization focuses primarily on improving seven essentials in a community: water supply, sanitation, civil works, structures, energy, agriculture and information systems. Working domestically and internationally, Engineers Without Borders (USA) is improving the quality of life and HDI in numerous areas.

Project Sunlight is a growing movement of people who believe in the power of taking action. Whether it's viewing and sharing with friends an inspiring film, boosting the self-esteem of young women, making a donation to a food bank, Project Sunlight thinks that every single action can make a real difference.

Iris Global is an organization that helps people living in poverty in several countries in southern Africa. This charity improves the quality of life for many people living in Africa by providing disaster relief, starting farms in villages, helping people gain access to clean water, and much more. This charity helps with the development of several countries in Africa by reducing the levels of poverty seen there. Decreasing the amount of poverty in a country will boost its HDI since people not living in poverty can better the economy of the country they are living in by focusing on working instead of just barely surviving.

I think Water.org is one of the most beneficial charities there are today. It provides a very basic need to many countries that don't have it; clean water. This organization helps to build sustainable wells that they help to maintain. "Safe water transforms lives. For more than twenty years, Water.org has pioneered safe water and sanitation solutions that give women hope, children health and communities a future" This helps improve the CDR of underdeveloped countries, hence improving the HDI of the countries aided.

Iris Global is a missionary organization founded by Rolland and Heidi Baker in 1980, dedicated to revival in the Holy Spirit wherever the love and power of God are needed and appreciated, especially among the poor. They help by building wells and schools, holding health clinics, giving disaster relief, vocational training and educating communities to change them in many ways. They are centered in Mozambique, but now have over 20+ bases across the world that are working to help many different people groups become self-sustained and spiritually fulfilled.

The Women's Global Education Project is attempting to destroy the barriers keeping girls out of school, especially in remote, rural areas. As of now, they primarily work in Africa, providing scholarship support and encouraging family involvement and community awareness. One of the main factors that determine development is access to knowledge. It is also known that, generally, more gender equality contributes to better development. By working to improve both of these things in struggling countries, the Women's Global Education Project in helping to raise the HDI's of these countries.

The project gives children a desk to sit on when learning in the country of Malawi. This promotes learning in the country and make the students a bit more comfortable. This is also promoting access to knowledge which will create a higher HDI.

MAP International is a charity that helps over 115 countries around the world promote health (physical, economic, social, emotional and spiritual health). It helps give hope and is trying to conquer HIV and AIDs as well as malaria. If developing countries are able to overcome these major health obstacles, is will improve their standard of living as well as their HDI. They will become more developed. MAP International provides free medical supplies as well as knowledge about sanitation. They also help get people clean water which would improve health even more.

Heifer International is an organization that helps countries all over the world. Their goal is to bring people tools, education and livestock so that there is a positive change. To do this, they educate people, give families animals to help their financial and hunger problem, give women empowerment, improve water sanitation and create sustainable farming. I personally believe that this charity is amazing because it doesn't focus on one aspect of lives but many. They focus on food, water, wealth, health and equality. It is an amazing charity.
