That's really cool! I would like to ride in one of these! Although I probably won't be able to for quite some time.

Personally, I would not want one, for it to run on detailed maps, and be able to override and read every factor of driving, it would require the internet. Assuming it is using google maps, what if it cannot connect to the internet? That's dangerous. To add, like ever machine, there is going to be an error, and this will probably raise accident rates.

. . . Google in general honestly kind of scares me. Like, yeah, the Chromes and Docs and stuff are beneficial for school things, but they don't have to try to take over the world. (And Payton brought up a good point with the car needing to be connected to the internet to work.) Also, has anyone heard about how Google asks you for your real name instead of allowing you to use a screen name (or something like that)? I remember, I think it was two days ago, that I was going to post a comment on a YouTube video that I had watched with my YouTube account that I've had since 2007, and then Google was all like, "Oh hey want to show your real name instead of your screen name?" and I was like, "Heck no." And there have been times where they purposely log me out of my Google account, and then when I sign back in, they ask for my cell phone number and I click skip because I'm not giving my number to Google. It's for some stupid information loss thing or whatever. But who knows if they're actually protecting your personal information and your privacy?

Understanding this issue is one big step towards protecting your online information / privacy.  Have any of you had negative experiences with phishing?

They invested millions into our city for the land and resources, not to mention the free programs they offer to our citizens. I don't see a problem with passing over the metro area for the beta testing of fiber optic broadband. Google gives us plenty of benefits they aren't obliged to.

In high school I'm not sure how important it is for students to have their own laptops. English and history and the 2 mandatory classes that computers work well in. Science and math don't always work well, electives can use them, but not all of them. We really don't know how well this will work until next year. College on the other hand for seniors this year will require laptops, and chromebooks I don't think will work well for college. IM just going to stick with my Mac, does everything this machine does and more.

it seems kind of stupid to me that they would do that usually they will give people a warning to take down the video that violates there rules but I guess they decided to just give up on them.

I think that the arguments arising around Youtube, Facebook, etc. are interesting. Because, while they are private corporations with the ability to regulate their material how they please, they are also communication platforms. And being communication platforms, they have to conform to certain laws. They have to guarantee everyone a right to be seen and heard.

Interesting that they assume nicotene does this. 20% lower scores is pretty concrete results though.

I don't find this surprising. Nicotine is a known mutagen, so I think it's actually foolish to assume that it won't affect fetuses which are exposed to it. It will be interesting to see if this study actually gets any media attention, though. Unfortunately, I doubt it will. People, especially Americans, are usually content to overlook any negative consequences to their actions.

A quick google search for the effects of nicotine on fetuses came up with a number of medical journals on the subject. Research into this subject has been done at last as far back as 1996, and smoking cigarettes during pregnancy is documented to have a large number of possible adverse outcomes even worse than poor reading skills, including spontaneous abortion, stillbirth, and sudden infant death syndrome. I found this new information within the article to be very disturbing, and yet, there are some aspects that I'm not surprised about. I have already comprehended the fact that Google can track all of your searches and that causes ads to be related to your own interests but for media to constantly monitor my actions just from my phone? That's disturbing once you think and look into it.

I was watching a video actually on Facebook and this couple heard about facebook stalking people so they decided to talk about cat food for 3 days with facebook open and offline then they opened it one day to cat food adds on their facebook which is really creepy to me.
