  •
Wed, Jan 4, 2012 9:01 AM EST 911 operator told young mother she could not shoot until man entered her home. Multiple reports of a dozen orcas have whale watchers thrilled in Orange County. Higher gas prices will push the cost of coffee, breakfast items up across U.S.
  •
This is a very interesting situation. I feel bad for that new mother because she had just lost her husband, and then someone tried to break into her house 5 days later.. I think this is a justified shooting as well.

Defiant Teen Gets Life Sentences in Ohio Shooting - 1 views

  •
There has to be something wrong with this kid. If you read the story and hear what he said to the court and to the families of the victims he shot, you'll understand. It is scary that someone could be so awful.

He deserves what he is getting. I think he new what he was doing the whole time. That school should feel horrible for not having good enough security to let him bring in a gun.
  •
what is wrong with this kid. he is crazy!! now the school should know they need more security so this wont happen again.
  •
Wow, This is shocking. Oddly enough all I could think about the whole time was how do attorneys do their jobs? How in the world could you be strong enough to defend something like that. That young man is sick.
  •
That is terrible! At least he got what he deserved. I don't understand how anybody in their right mind could do such things.
  •
That kid is sick and twist. He doesn't deserve 3 life sentences he deserves the death penatly
  •
I don't understand why nobody saw that there was something wrong with this person he isn't exactly sane it seem I mean to go and kill people for one, then to go to court and act like he did why didn't anyone try and stop him.
  •
People like this don't do well in Prisons. He'll most likely have a very rough life where he's going, especially after what he has said. He'll "get what is coming for him" and I honestly feel no pity, even though I do believe he should be charged as an adult. This is disgusting. I would not have been able to rest easy if I were in that court knowing the guy is in jail after what he had done, let alone what he had said, he deserves way worse than what he got. He obviously took pleasure in killing those innocent students. Good luck in prison, mate, because you are certainly going to need it if you don't want to end up as cold as those concrete walls you'll be surrounded by. Either that or he'll end up as Big Jerry's finger puppet.
  •
The death sentence would be an easy way out for him. Spending your entire life rotting away in jail having your actions hung over your head is a much better punishment in my opinion. Not to mention, killing someone else will not bring your loved ones back or make you feel better, at least it shouldn't anyway. I read a story about a woman's 6 year old daughter who had been kidnapped and murdered, but she did not wish to have the man killed, because she said, "How do I honor Susie and Susie's life and the goodness and sweetness and beauty of who she was? To kill somebody in her name would be an insult to her memory." I'm not saying anyone is wrong, I just think life sentence without parole is a better option.

Man sues Georgia for blocking "GAYGUY" vanity license plate - 1 views

  •
ATLANTA (Reuters) - An Atlanta man is suing the state of Georgia after his application for a vanity license plate that he said described his sexual orientation was denied.
  • ...1 more comment...
  •
its a first ammendment right to have free speech but if its obscene then for public deciency something can be taken down or changed but in this case its jjust a license plate so its that important
  •
What if he was just trying to let everyone know that he's a really cheerful guy? The word 'gay' is not an obscenity, and it has more than one meaning. Also, come on Georgia. At try to look like you aren't oppressing people.
  •
Georgia (or some of the people of Georgia), upset me more and more as I read stories like this. There is nothing offensive about using the word "Gay" in the ways that man tried to. He didn't do anything wrong. And, like Mallory said, the word doesn't even have to have the implied meaning everyone instantly assumes. Georgia? Tisk Tisk.

Lawyer says a man is recieving hate mail over the accusation of slapping a baby - 2 views

  •
Being intoxicated or aggravated doesn't give anyone the right to use racial terms towards anyone. And, they don't have the right to slap a child, either. I think this man deserves hate mail.
  • ...9 more comments...
  •
Slapping a child is never okay, and being intoxicated is not an excuse for it either. This man deserves more then just hate mail.
  •
I wouldn't be surprised if he got more than just hate mail, Just because your intoxicated gives you no reason to slap a baby. That baby didn't deserve that.
  •
That guy is crazy, he slapped a little kid in front of a bunch of people, and called it the N-word. He's lucky he's just getting hate mail and nothing more.
  •
just because a baby is crying it does not give anyone the right to slap a baby
  •
I think that this story is a great reminder that our behavior has consequences. He has already been fired from an executive position in his company and has been publicly ridiculed. This in in addition to any sort of legal punishment that he might be facing. His decision to have maybe just one more drink before he boarded the plane was a bad decision with far reaching consequences!
  •
Of course he is being sent hate mail he slapped a baby. What kind of person does that?
  •
If what he is being accused for actually happened he deserves time in prison because for one racism is a terrible thing people don't get to choose what raise they are going to be they are born into it. For two no one in their right mind should every hit a child.
  •
i agree with all your comments it isn't right to slap a child becuase it's crying and it's not ok to use racial terms to anyone it's not cool.
  •
it all depends on the terms of which he did or did not some might say he did in fact slap the baby while others would say he didn't because of the accusation that he did in fact hit the baby but what it all comes down to is that no matter what you still have no right to hit a kid under any circumstances no matter what so he might deserve hate mail or he might not but not racist comments seriously what the f#^5 don't be racist
  •
This story is interesting..if he was intoxicated of any sort, that doesn't make it okay to use the language he supposedly did or hit a child. That's why I don't think it should be allowed to have alcoholic beverages on a plane. People take advantage of it, and you never know what could happen..much like what he's being accused. I think he deserves the "hate mail" he's getting!
  •
Is not right to slap a baby, because he/she is just a little baby who doesn't know nothing yet.

Toddler forced to run through snow: but it is a form of training.... - 26 views

He could have let him have some clothes on...then it wouldn't have been so bad
  • ...14 more comments...

I saw this last friday, its kinda sad. Why would a dad do that? Put some clothes on him then itll be fine
  •
welll, at the time it might seem messed up, but when this kid never gets sick, he will be thankful!
  •
no parent should do that to their child. it was wrong and down right cruel.
  •
This is awful! Poor kid! :(
  •
this kid is training to be the next ninja warrior!
  •
it does not matter that he was training to be the next ninja warrior. its dumb and the kid should of had at least something on.
  •
When training, I think you should have more than just underwear. You should at least have a pair of pants.
  •
Nahh, ninja warrior is some serious sheeet. I would ride a unicycle through fire naked while juggling blow fish and eating glass in order obtain adequate training for that show.
  •
If he's training to be on Ninja Warrior, it is neccassary to run through snow in underwear. He may actually have TOO much clothing on for this exercise.
  •
it's a form of abuse no matter how you look at it.
  •
i can see that the parent was trying to make his son different from others but there would be a lot of different ways to do that. i think it is a form of abuse.
  •
Its abuse and the kid should be taken away from his dad that's upsetting! >.<
  •
Well what is abuse? Is limiting and stifling a child of it's full potential abuse? I think so. Children need to grow strong mentally AND physically. If that means making my child must run through the snow, by golly, that kid isn't running in the snow. He's sprinting.
  •
xhotxsoccerbabe, do you have no morals? A child needs a well rounded exercise routine. You can't just make him run sprints in the snow! what about upper body exercise such as push ups in the snow or strength training by carrying very heavy objects? Or a what about a proper regiment of metabolic steroids and human growth hormone?
  •
Oh, excuse me Kevin. I totally forgot the importance of using all of the body's muscles. How can one be a successful Ninja Warrior with out proper dispersment of muscle tone? His dad should treat him like a Spartan warrior and leave him in the mountains. He cannot return till he has the hide of a giant wolf.
  •
I don't think that he should have did made him run through snow at all. With or without clothes on. I see this as torture and there are other ways to stay healthy and keep your immune system strong.

School asks deaf preschooler to change his sign language name - 3 views

  •
Sometimes it seems when rules are too rigidly enforced, silly situations like this make me wonder, - maybe re-word the rule rather than asking a person to change their name...
  • ...8 more comments...
  •
asking a little kid 2 change his name is ridiculous. the boy has a right 2 his own name just like any person does
  •
I think asking a young child to change his name just because they think it looks like a gun when its simply his hand sign to represent his name is ridiculous. It is an actual sign to represent his name and is no way a threat to the other children or staff. Kids that little don't even think of things as weapons like that.
  •
that is crazy that they would ask him to change his name just because of a school rule
  •
that is stupid that a school ask a family just to change the kids name just because of a rule, even though the sign is approved by the S.E.E. And the school also does not have the right to ask the parents to change the kids name when it is the parents right to name their own kid.
  •
I personally think the the school is being ridiculous. He's just a kid, he's not gonna know what a gun is.
  •
That's his name, his identity. They have no right to tell him to change it. He's a child and I see no problem with him and his name sign when it's registered and causing no legitimate harm.
  •
This rule seem very unfair. He has already been saying his name this way for three years. He has no other way to communicate, he can only use his hands. Which i think is ridiculous, they don't make hearing (i don't know how else you would describe them) people change how they say their name. It also doesn't seem to represent a gun in any way, in my thoughts, so it should be fine.
  •
I also find it to be unfair because it's his name, so he shouldn't have to learn or make a new name.
  •
I agree with th Grand Island resident Fredda Bartenback, what little kid would think some harmless sign would be a gun?
  •
He uses the sign language sign for hunter, as in a person who goes out and hunts. He turned it into his name sign by crossing his fingers instead of leaving them flat. While I agree that the school over reacted and he shouldn't have to change it, I think the idea of him "Having to change his name," is a little bit of of a loaded statement. His name will still be Hunter if he changes his name sign it will just be expressed differently. Also according to my mom, who works very closely with many deaf people every day, he may choose to change it later in life once he gets older because this name sign was chosen by his parents and he might not like it.

Arsenic found in applejuice - 5 views

This is horrible, this could kill a lot of people including little kids.
  •
there's a small amount of it so it's not likely to kill after the first sip, all apple seeds have arsenic in them and that's why they always told you not to eat the seeds but when they make apple juice, they throw in the whole apple so that pretty much explains it...i'm glad I don't like appejuice
