US Administers First COVID-19 Vaccine to Front-Line Workers | AllSides - 9 views

  •
I think this is a good thing giving the vaccines to people who need it most right now like health care workers.
  • ...7 more comments...
  •
I'm not too sure how I feel about the new vaccine. I've heard things about it and to me it just seems suspicious. There are so many diseases in the world that scientists have spent years up on years researching and still having made a vaccine. In just one year we have a vaccine for Covid-19. that's just a little suspicious to me.
  •
im glad the vaccine it out and there giving it to people who need it I'm glad health care workers are getting it I know sence I'm young and have a good immune system it will be awhile tell I get it but that okay
  •
I think it is good that the vaccine is now ready for use. It is also good that health care workers are getting it first because I feel like they have the highest chance of getting covid due to being in the hospital around many sick people.
  •
I think the vaccine is too dangerous, there have already been people who volunteered to take it and they basically became paralyzed. Also, I think it came out way too fast vaccines usually take years to test and make sure theyŕe safe to use and actually work. Yes, the vaccine may work but that doesn´t necessarily mean it´s safe.
  •
What if they don't work and we just end up getting all our nurses killed with the vaccines? Jk I don't think they'll kill people but I also have my suspicions on how it was made so fast.
  •
I think it is good that we have a vaccine and are giving it to the people who need it first.
  •
I think it's really great that we are able to give our frontline workers the sources they need to be able to keep helping and taking care of the pandemic. And although it was kind of fast for a vaccine to have been made, I'd like to believe that it will help.
  •
I'm glad that the people who need it the most are getting it at this time.
  •
As the people who are in constant contact with the people with Covid, I'm glad that frontline workers are getting the vaccine first. However, we need to remember that this is a vaccine, not a cure.

The impact of $9 minimum wage, Is it Good or Bad? - 2 views

  •
good because some people dont get payed enough for how hard they work which is not always fair and right
  • ...4 more comments...
  •
I think it is good because there are places that people get paid $7 something which is less then $9.
  •
Increasing the minimum wage would just make companies fire people because they'd feel some workers aren't worth paying a few extra dollars. I'd love to be paid 9 dollars, but this is told to help reduce poverty, I think it'll just increase unemployment.
  •
sounds good to me becuase i feel like im getting screwed with the minimum wage... i know they have the money to do that but that could lead to be less jobs becuse they dont want to spend more money.
  •
I don't think your decision on this matter should be whether you want more money or not. Of course everyone would like to get paid more; you have to look on the effects it would create. If raising the amount should happen, I think it should be raised more gradually- not just jumping to $9 automatically.
  •
Minimum wage is based on cost of living. No one can virtually live off of minimum wage. I know of several people who have two minimum wage jobs and work all the time but still are barely getting by. I understand this is what welfare is for but I also believe that if we raised the min wage to $9 more people would be off welfare and this would be an economy booster. Also the Minimum wage should be adjusted due to the fact that it hasn't been changed for a while.
  •
i think it is a good thing to bump it up to 9 because there is no way you can live off of minimum wage i mean think what if you go to the hospital no way you can pay the bills for that and suppply food for your house no way to live

4 year old kills 6 year old - 2 views

I think the parent should be charged if any one i mean you should have your guns locked up anyways
  • ...11 more comments...
  •
If the guns are accessible to the children how is it the child's fault? The children at that age are unaware of what a gun is and can do.
  •
i think that if parents have little kids around they should have the guns locked up somewhere to where little kids will not be able to get the guns
  •
I agree with Austin, Kids should not be able to have access to the parents guns. So the parents should be the one's getting charged.
  •
The parents should be getting charged. How are you just going to let your little kid grab a real gun and shoot someone?! Not very responsible parents.
  •
It makes me sad that this child will have to live the rest of his life with the fact that he unknowingly and accidentally killed another child, and his friend, because his parents didn't know how to lock up a gun.
  •
My heart goes out to both families. Although it is absurd to have guns within a children's reach, ESPECIALLY loaded guns, neither of these deaths were intentional. Charging the parents of the shooter is the morally correct thing to do, but I can't help to feel bad for them. Both families now have incredibly difficult things to recover from. The tragedy of losing a child, and the fact that your child has just committed a murder. How do deal with that if it happens to come up in the future? This case would be a very difficult one to judge.
  •
I agree that it was irresponsible to leave their guns within reach of their child, but I don't think that makes them completely responsible for the crime
  •
It's stupid to leave a gun in an area where a kid can get a hold of it, but it's not like planned on killing his friend. Nobody should be charged it's just an accident. Not a crime.
  •
I think the responsibility are the parents why would you let your children to grab a gun thats not a toy for play.
  •
It's crazy that children can get their hands on a gun when I was that young I wasn't even thinking about guns and stuff. but now and days kids can shoot a gun what is this world coming to.
  •
I think the parents need to be charged: one, because they didn't keep an eye on their kids and two, because they weren't responsible with their guns.
  •
The parents should be charged. If they are going to own any guns while having children living with them in the house, they should be responsible enough to put the guns in a locked gun cabinet or safe. Or simply just put the gun in a place the the kids can't access. It's common sense. This shouldn't have happened and in my mind the parents are the ones to blame.
  •
This is just awful. The parents really should have A) locked their guns up, and B) taught their children gun safety (or to not mess with a gun at all) if they planned on keeping a loaded rifle in the house. That is just stupid.

Free condoms for your 12-year-old? California health council can help - 3 views

  •
(CNN) -- With just a few clicks of a mouse, kids as young as 12 can have free condoms delivered to their doors in California. And that idea is garnering mixed reactions from Californians.
  • ...7 more comments...

    Better be safe than sorry.
  •
i think that 12 year olds should not be able to buy condoms there should be a certain age limit.
  •
i think you should be able to get condoms no matter how old you are. if you are haveing sex you should be safe.
  •
Safe sex is the best way to go. If your thinking about sex at any age, you should make sure you have condoms no mater what.
  •
Perhaps parents, guardians/ and or teachers should encourage kids not to make those choices until they are old enough to handle the consequences (aka, wait until their married. You wont have to deal with pregnancies or emotional stress)
  •
No one that young needs to engage in sex but if they do they need protection and not have many partners it seems to me that people are having to many partners.
  •
I dont think anyone that young needs to have sex they should be getting a free pack of craynos not condoms
  •
i dont think they should be able to but yes i do belive that they do need to learn about pertection ... but no they dont need them
  •
I agree with Hannah, they should not be getting condoms at 12 that is way too young to even be thinking about doing that kind of stuff. But I also agree with Spencer, they should be taught about protection that way when the time comes MANY years later, they know what the right thing to do is.

Man arrested in school abduction - 2 views

  •
I read this and the first thing that comes to my mind is why didn't the sister call the police right away if she was watching?
  • ...8 more comments...
  •
this is very crazy to think it was in our area. I always feel safe here. Melissa that is what I was thinking you watch it happen an call your dad first, and not the police ?
  •
the reason she couldnt get to her right aw was because she was down the street and her dad told her to tell him where they were and he took care of it
  •
It's horrible to think that, today, you can't safely send your children to school. If I were a parent, I would be so uncomfortable with the idea that my child is not safe in school, which is supposed to be the safest of all places for children. Something ought to be done about these criminals. I think they walk away too easily, sometimes.
  •
I agree with you Sidnie very much so. The older sister was letting the guy grab her sister and not doing anything about it? That does not make any sense what so ever. I bet she would have felt very bad if she let the guy go any further than he did.
  •
After something like this happens and your around that area people would on the alert and it easier for people to freak out i believe
  •
Why didn't the sister get out of the car and try to do something if she saw what was happening?
  •
It kind of shocks when you read about these sorts of things, but it doesn't really register how serious till it happens in your own backyard. We always think "oh this won't happen here" ,but when it does, it truly gets to us.
  •
The sister should have called the police straight away. She had no idea if the man was armed so she did the safest thing: not to approach him. It's a scary situation and most people can't think on impulse, the easiest thing would be to get a detailed description of the man and license plate numbers if he were to take her to a vehicle. It's hard just to sit there and do nothing, but sometimes that's the safest thing to do to keep yourself and the victim safe. It wouldn't have done anybody good for both the girls to be kidnapped or harmed. Luckily, however, the girl got away safely and the man was caught.
  •
Was there no one else around to see this? The fact that the father had to come and get the guy, instead of a teacher or another adult that was near by, worries me. Everyone should be watching out for the kids, making the school a more safe environment.
  •
I agree with Meghan in a way. The man could have been armed, and if he were approached the 10 year old would have been in greater danger. But, I also can not wrap my head around the fact that the father AND sister of the child were sitting there and did not call the police until after the girl got away. What were they going to do if he actually took her?

Council Bluffs Schools blocking Facebook - 3 views

I am curious if you agree or disagree with the decision. Here are excerpts from three documents the school district has sent me about the decision.
  • ...14 more comments...
  •
i think blocking it was 50/50, good for the kids that are addicted to changing their status, but bad for people who are on it during free time or lunch.
  •
I agree with Andrew because there are a lot of people that abuse he privilege, but then there are the ones that only get on when told that they can or in free time.
  •
I think that our school system is going way Wacko with this, with Facebook, yeah block it, but you should block it on the school's wifi not the chromes. you should be able to get on at you house. What is the harm there...? Its not like you are getting distracted from a teacher talking..... With the cell phones. Yeah, thats whatever... I understand that you aren't supposed to have them out during class, but only being aloud to have them during lunch and before or after school, it makes me feel like we are back in Jr. High, that was their policy. I even remember i went to work Kirn's show and i forgot that there was that rule and so i was walking down the hallway texting, i looked right at the teacher and said that i was in high school, she laughed and said sorry and gave it back. But i think with this rule the students will feel like that are being treated as jr high students again and i know that would make me frustrated. But not having a relaxed rule on cell phones students will just get super mad and well, teacher's and Administrators,, You're gonna have a bad time...
  •
I agree with Eric, it should just be blocked on the wifi, not the Chromes themselves because now the people who brought their own computers can get on facebook, or the people with internet on their phones can access it that way. So the school didn't block the students %100, they just made an obstacle for the students to get through, because I think we all know someone is going to find a way around it soon, like they did last year.
  •
I agree with Eric and Alex as well, just block it on their wifi during the school day.
  •
It does feel like we are still in Junior High. but how do most Students? certainly not like they are in high school. If people would act their age then you could use this statement. take a look around the hallways and you know what i am talking about. And when you are on facebook or any other website it is a distraction because you are zoned out of everything that is going on around you and ten minutes can easily turn into an hour or a couple of hours
  •
a good 3/4 of the conversations during class periods... maybe not everyone's but at least mine has been about getting around the the Facebook block. They say Facebook is distracting well it is for certain people that get on it constantly but what really is distracting is people constantly talking about how they are trying to get back on Facebook through the chromes. That's not distracting a select few it's distracting us all.
  •
I feel like if the school has such a big problem with Facebook they need to realize that although blocking Facebook from chromes will stop many students from getting on it the majority of us do have smart phones. Meaning we can still get on Facebook. I think that if a student doesn't know how to control their use on facebook during school they will have to deal with the consequences and that it wasn't necessary to block the site, it's called responsibility and if someone doesn't know how to be responsible then that's their problem. Also I don't understand why students aren't able to get on Facebook outside of school?
  •
I don't feel like blocking Facebook was very beneficial. High school is supposed to be preparing us for college or a career, in which we will have access to anything we want. How are we supposed to know how to limit distractions if we don't have the opportunity to do so now? On another note, the students who aren't doing their work now with Facebook unblocked still aren't generally going to do it even without that particular distraction.
  •
I agree with Rainie, Jaidlyn, and Olivia. The school board and the administrators don't know what we are thinking in class, yes they might see that a good portion of our students are on Facebook, but also, a good majority is paying attention and actually learning, I personally find Facebook a good tool for school, because there has been multiple times where I have no clue what so ever on what is going on so I go and ask some of my friends that are in college and ask them, and also my friends explain it so much better than Teacher's do, I feel as though most of the times teacher's just speak it so they can get paid, they don't go in depth to it. So I feel also that if they were teaching more hands on there would be less Facebook usage, well, at least there would be if it was unblocked.
  •
Sorry.. I realized that I didn't finish.. With what Rainie said, that is so true you can't sit through a whole class period with out hearing, "This is peeveing me off!" or "There has to be a way around it, that will be my project this weekend, to figure out what how to get around this dumb thing!"
  •
Personally, if the schools are trying to prepare us for the future, then why limit what we can do, and not do with the chromes? How does limiting us teach us good decision making skills? I mean, in the future, if you are at work and spend 4 hours of your time at work on facebook, you are gonna get fired. We should have it just to learn that we do not need it. Plus, students are just going to move onto the next thing. Like there are not a billion other things we are going to get on?
  •
I completely agree with Payton. There are so many things that aren't blocked and we can move right on to the next thing.
  •
I totally agree with both Eric and Payton, also what about using our phones, Ipods, and personal computers to get on FB at school. An I know most of the people on FB use it to waste time, what about the students using it during free time for good things like making a FB page for a club or a FB event for a soccer game?
  •
In response to Payton W: If an employee would get fired for wasting company time on Facebook, what is a logical penalty for teachers/administrators to administer to those who refuse to work? It is hardly a solution to take the computer away, since there is so much effort placed on getting kids to use them for class work. Of course we cannot "fire" our students like an employee. Following your logic, shouldn't "moving on to the next thing" also get you the same penalty? Isn't the real issue students wasting time (whatever it might be)?
  •
Mr. Pregon, the personal issue with this is, we can't go around blocking things all the time, that does not teach good choice-making skills. I know that one solution, that may only work in some situations, is that, make them do it by hand. I've seen teachers use this before, and noticed quiet a bit improvement on students taking it upon themselves to avoid facebook. Mr. Nelson, in Algebra 2 made someone solve a 3 variable question using Matrices by hand, which can take about 10 minutes for a single problem. That student has not been on facebook in his class, or at least caught, since. As for penalties, students do have privileged that teachers may take away, such as going to the bathroom during class. Although, that is unlikely to affect most students, it is hard to say whether or not that will have much affect. Perhaps a major punishment such as Monday school if caught so many times? I have no direct answer as to how this should work though.

Oops, I left my sexual orientation at home - 5 views

  •
I think that is crazy, why people think that some people would choose to be tortured everyday is beyond me. I mean come on. I think this issue should just resolve like now, yes I understand that in the bible it says that homosexuality is a sin. But God made you who you are. People have to understand that, obviously there is a plan, it just hasn't showed itself to everyone yet. Being Homosexual is a life, if a Heterosexual stepped into a Homosexual's life for one day they would understand that they go through so much crap constantly. I think if it was just passed as a law people would forget about it. And everything in the world would be a lot less hectic. P.S.... I love the translation at the bottom!! That is hilarious!! :D
  •
my whole view on this is that it is ridiculous. gay people should get their rights already.
  •
In all reality..... If Religion is your reason to say, "Being gay is not okay," then you really need to know your history. First, Christmas, if I recall the documentary that I watched not to long ago correctly, was a time for grown men to beat there wives, and go out and have "gay sex" with each other? So, if you denounce gay marriage because of Catholicism, or Christianity, you just denounced Christmas. Second, for those of you who are Hindustan, you have a celebrated holiday that is for 2 guys, and 1 girl, to "get it on." It's called Karma Sutra. Yeah, religion should not be allowed to interfere in America's choice to permit/deny gay marriage, and not just for those 2 reasons. (Those reasons being that the religions allow it themselves, yet say it is not okay.) Let's just read out constitution. We've all heard, "Freedom of Religion," before, right? Well, right there, religion should not be allowed to found a reason as to deny gay relationships. To add, let us look at the Declaration of Independence, "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Pursuit of happiness includes marriage correct? If so, define marriage Religion definition: The formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife. Actual definition: Marriage is a social union or legal contract between people called spouses that creates kinship. Just by out constitutional freedoms, and foundations, most of it points in the direction of gay marriage should be legal, which Jenny, is why I agree with you. As for being gay being something you can fix, don't think so. I don't see people changing there skin color. (Except Micheal Jackson, but we all still know that he was not as light-toned as that.) Do you see people choosing there eye color? Either that is one expensive (or failed) surgery, or it does not happen. I don't think you are capable of changing the way someone is born, (unless it changes your physical appearance, which does not change you

Meryl Streep attacks Trump in Golden Globes acceptance speech - 5 views

  •
"In her nearly 6-minute address, the actress highlighted the importance of the "most vilified segments in American society right now" -- "Hollywood, foreigners and the press." Without referencing him by name, the actress also blasted president-elect Donald Trump for mocking a reporter with a disability in 2015."
  • ...5 more comments...
  •
I think "attack" is not necessarily the appropriate word for this particular situation... Everyone is entitled there opinion, and I see how some people could find this unprofessional to do it at such an event like the Golden Globes. I was watching at the time when she said what she did, and the audience applauded her afterwards, so overall I believe that Meryl stated her opinion and theirs nothing wrong with that. I am not for sure, but I do know that these actors are asked to give speeches before hand and rehearse before the show... and she must have been given the right to give the speech anyway, possibly to start talk and get attention.
  •
I agree with delanie because everyone is entitled there opinion. But at the same time, i don't think that this was the time or place to bring it up. But in the same way, it needs to be brought up, just not in that setting.
  •
I agree with delaniehubbard because I wouldn't consider it an attack. Meryl was just stating that she didn't think that what Trump did was appropriate. I think it was right for her to address this and she was also correct when she said "This instinct to humiliate when it's modeled by someone in the public ... by someone powerful, it filters down into everyone's life because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same." Its not correct for someone that will be the next president to be doing this, because its disrespectful
  •
I agree with delanie because everyone does have their own opinion
  •
I think that Streep calling out Trump was very appropriate. When Kanye called out Taylor Swift years ago at an awards show it was glorified so I don't think that a highly respected woman who is voicing her opinion over serious conflict, not trying to start drama or a "twitter war" is very appropriate and is in no way a problem. I agree with everything Streep said and I'm sure many people in the audience and viewing the award show did also.
  •
Definitely agree with these guys, attack would be pushing it too much. She didn't like what Trump did was all not an attack, even though it was disrespectful, not an attack.
  •
Trump never attacked an disabled person. The reporter was was normal except that one hand really? The press is going retarded. The hand gestures he did he used that on everyone. He used it on ted Cruz, macro rubio, and obama, But oh no Trump is making fun of someone. Stupid press. Than when she called him out that completely stupid. For one it was lie like i said he never did. For two she was just trying to gain attention, and make everyone feel bad for her. For three she went completely off topic. She is just as pathetic as the press.

If Alcohol Were Discovered Today, Would it be Legal? | Alternet - 1 views

  •
Interesting article out of Great Britain... especially considering all our laws on "drugs", are we forgetting that alcohol is a drug as well. For many, it is socially acceptable to get "drunk" while getting "high" is bad. Do you think if alcohol were discovered today, would we allow people to use it legally?
  • ...3 more comments...
  •
We probably wouldn't, and go back into the prohibition days. With all the stats they have between drunk driving and abuse, the government wouldn't think twice
  •
Well look from olden days, if we knew all deaths of drunk driving or stupid stuff people do, it never would have gotten relegalized. This is in my opinion
  •
i think that it would be illegal because of all of the stats they have form drunk driving, domestic abuses, child protection cases, and accidents.
  •
I really doubt that we would be able to limit it legally to the point of no use. I do think we would better restrict it though. It would likely turn into something like limiting a persons legal purchase amount in a week or a month or something, with some sort of item that would be required to purchase alcohol that one could only receive so many of in a month period.
  •
they tried to stop it with prohibiton when they first discovered it. but that only brought on moonshiners and illegal saloons (i can't think of the name right now) and now it would be almost impossible to make alcohol illegal. It would most likely turn into something like a huge illegal operation like a cartel or something worse.

Classes Resume After "Hit List" Threat Closes Schools - 4 views

I think that they should of shut school down for a while. They put a bunch of peoples lives in danger. Even if they checked their bags and what not, that doesn't mean they aren't considered dangerous.
  •
i Think that they should shut the school down until they take all the security measures possible to make sure something doesn't happen again
  •
It stinks that things like this keep happening. Why do people keep making serious threats to hurt other people at schools? What do they gain from that?
  •
They should have shut down the school for awhile. It should be taken with more precaution they should have taken even just a day or two to decide if what they are doing is enough to keep people safe.
  •
I feel like they have done everything right in this situation, there isn't a whole lot more they can do to help the cause. Closing school a little longer I feel wouldn't have a huge effect on the situation, yet it could help the students clear their mind and stuff.
  •
Safety measures should be taken and those who were addressed in the "hit list" should have extra protection seeing as they are targets of this threat.
  •
I agree with many comments here. It would seem that there must have been enough credible evidence to think that the person making the threat might act on it. Even though I posted the article, I think we can sometimes get over excited when hearing these sorts of stories... the fact is, schools are among the SAFEST places for us to be. There has been school violence (even locally), but those situations are thankfully very rare!
  •
It makes sense that the school is taking the measures needed to make the school a safer environment. No one should have to go to their job or their classes scared of being killed.
  •
School should have been closed for awhile until it was safe for everyone. They need to make sure that no one is in any sort of danger. The school should go through all the things wrong and find ways to fix it all.
  •
I agree that it is important for threats to be prevented, and I think what they are doing to prevent them may just be what is needed to be done.
  •
I think the steps they are taking are the right way to handle the situation. Everyone should be considered a suspect, you never know who could be behind the threats. The administrators and students safety should be their top priority.

Dazzling airplane patent puts seats on top of aircraft - CNN.com - 8 views

Instead, this concept aims to give passengers an even better view of the skies than the pilot's by seating them on top of the plane, inside a transparent bubble-style canopy. U.S. aerospace technology company Windspeed says its SkyDeck design can be installed on a variety of aircraft, from private jets to wide-bodied commercial planes.
  • ...7 more comments...
  •
I feel like this can go both ways it can be a really silly idea and rip off the plane or be a great idea to have dates on an aircraft. ( ZAC OLSON )
  •
this would be cool. but this could also make it easier for people to high jack a plan or blow it up because they are in a glass dome on top of the plane, if you where to blow that dome off then the presser from the air would suck everything threw that hole.
  •
I think this is very dangerous idea.
  •
I think this sounds super cool, as long as they could find a way to make it safe.
  •
I think this is a super cool way to get people more interested in flying in airplanes. But there should be multiple tests before hand, just so we know that its intentionally a really safe place to be. Many things are dangerous about this idea, but its pretty cool.
  •
I may be missing something, but what does this have to do with government? I mean it's an interesting thing for sure, but what does a design of a commercial airplane matter to our government.
  •
This would be an interesting thing to make, as long as its safe, Some people would become more interested in flying since airplane rides are usually long and boring.
  •
This is really interesting, i think that people will really like this idea. But also i think they should find a way to keep this idea safe.
  •
I also think they should find a way to keep it safe.

Obama told 18 untruths over his entire time in office while Trump has told 103 in his first 10 months. Obama's lies are usually just exaggerations and making problems he is trying to solve sound worse than they are, and he realized after a while that it was wrong so by his last year in office he told one. Yet, the things he lied about were not made to hurt anyone or to cover up the truth like Donald Trump did. Trump was different from Obama because not only does he lie way more frequently but he lies to cover up anything that might make him look bad and hide the truth from situations. This should be a sign to people to not listen to Trump, no one wants a president that they can't trust.
  •
I think that if someone is president that they should never lie because it can only cause more problems
  •
I think that if you lie that much in office then you are not supposed to be there
  •
trumps just a compulsive liar that's digging a deeper hole for himself.
  •
a president who ;lies isn't a president at all, more like a corrupt leader(trump)
  •
It doesn't look good if our president has already told over 103 untruths and instead of being straight up about them he tries to make it seem like others are lying.
  •
I think that the worst part of him telling so many lies is that he tries to discredit people who say that he is lying even when the truth is blatantly obvious.
  •
I don't think anyone is surprised by this. Trump is a business man. He lies to make his way in the world. He doesn't care about honesty and honor as long as he gets what he wants.
  •
I figured that Trump wasn't that truthful, but 103 lies in the span of 10 months? That's unbelievable when compared to Obama, who told 18 lies in 8 years (year 7 wasn't even on there, so does that mean he went a whole year without telling a single lie?). I agree with kileywalden, who said that "Obama's lies are usually just exaggerations..." I think this is what truly sets Trump and Obama's lies apart from each other.
  •
This is the New York Times, which is a Democratic and not completely truthful news site, of course they would try to make Obama seem like a great president, when he could possibly be one of the worst in American History.
  •
I think the lies Trump tells are also just different than the kind of lies Obama told. Quite a few of Trumps lies are just him boasting about himself, such as him supposedly drawing huge crowds or being on times magazine so many times. He also takes credit for good things that are happening often and mostly just lies so much to make himself look better. The lies Obama said however were a lot more politically motivated and were meant to make you feel a certain way about an issue, compared to Trump, who's motivation is to make himself look better.

Sheriff says baby dies after being left in car by mistake | Fox News - 31 views

How do you forget about the very thing that was growing inside you for 9 months
  •
everyday i lose more faith in humanity
  •
Was she on anything. You think she would have heard the child in the back claiming she thought she dropped the child off.
  •
How do you forget your 8 month old son is in the backseat?
  •
You can;t forget a baby. They will cry and you would know if you loved and cared about your child as to if they would still be in the car or not.
  •
If you forget about having your baby in the car, then that's just considered bad parenting and she should just be charged.
  •
New parents have been shown to be more forgetful right at first because of the huge change in life that they don't realize it. But this is going way to far with it, death happened, usually it's only for a minute not long enough for an infant to die.
  •
i don't feel like it was on accident i think they meant to do it but they didn't mean to be gone as long but time just didn't intend for anything wrong to happen
  •
I find the reason to be incredibly sketchy, but I do believe the mother did not mean to kill her child. Perhaps she left her child in the car and meant to only for a small amount of time but forgot?
  •
    This is crazy
  •
I don't think she intentionally killed her kid but it's crazy how you can forget about your baby being let in the car
  •
    How do you just forget?
  •
How forgot your child? this is so sad
  •
That's insane why wouldn't the mother check the backseat before she got out of her car.
  •
I don't think you can just forget your child in a car, this child normally always has your attention
  •
    I can't believe this.
  •
If she said she really dropped him off at the daycare center she would have been conscious of taking him there. Also there should be footage of her dropping him off. If it shows she never showed up, shes obviously lying about that instance and there is more to the story.
  •
okay first off, if you need your purse or something material in the back to remember you have a baby, you shouldn't have one. second off, what the heck did she do when she went to the daycare? how did she imagine giving the baby over to the daycare or something?
  •
how do you forget about your child that is only 8 months old. This is just heart breaking.
  •
Completely heartbreaking. How can you "forget" about a child?
  •
This is really sad and I don't think should ever happen to anyone this is ridiculous and people need to pay attention and start checking and making sure to check there front and back seats even if they don't have any kids.
  •
She shouldn't be having kids. How do you think that you dropped your kid off at daycare if they were still in the back seat. This is ridiculous.

Jeep Wrangler Engine Explodes After 50,000 RPM Rev - 2 views

I think that being able to tow a trailer or car behind a truck should be something that anyone could do, but things like this make me think that there needs to be some type of additional training when doing so. What are your thoughts?
  •
I think it would be a good idea to require some form of training to be able to tow things on busy roads where others are in danger but I think for short distances on smaller less active roads there should be no training. In my opinion, it's the driver's responsibility to make sure they don´t destroy their vehicle but I also didn't think about the other people that could be killed for just driving near someone towing something the wrong way. In that case, I think there should be some sort of training so that others on the road are not at risk.

North Korea warns of Very grave situation after Biden called it a security threat - 11 views

    Thoughts?

  •
Personally i feel like this is a step backwards in our relations with North Korea. In Trumps presidency we created peace with North Korea rather than accusing them of a world threat and raising tensions.
  •
I think we need to be careful but North Korea is a terrible place and has a terrible leader who murders his own citizens. We can't be friends with them while their leader is going against American ideals and committing atrocities in his own country.
  •
I believe that North Korea is a threat but not one to the United States. He claimed before that we were within reach of his destruction but that wasn't the case. Kim called Biden ¨a rabid dog¨ so this seems to just be him showing that he doesn't like Biden and would prefer Trump.
  •
I think Kim Jong Un certainly has bad intentions, and he certainly is a threat. However, he's making empty threats because not only is the US military far stronger than North Korea's, but also because if North Korea launched an attack on any country, many other countries would immediately come to their aid and fight against N. Korea
  •
Yes, I think that we did take a step back from where we were with North Kora but honestly, I don´t see them as that much of a threat. I think that America´s army and tec is so ahead of North Kora that we're much more of a threat to them than they are to us. I think that most likely Kim Jong Un will continue to make threats like this but will never act on them. Hopefully, at some point, North Kora will be able to overcome being controlled by a dictator and can be treated fairly.
  •
North Korea is such a terrible place to even live with. We shouldn't try to "mess" with them and cause a bigger problem. This could cause us so much danger. Not only because the President has bad intentions, but also because they have more and bigger weapons than us.
  •
North Korea is a failing nation and really the only reason it doesn't fall as it is is because of china not wanting the influx of refuges fleeing there. When North Korea does all this show of it being a threat it's really not that much of a threat to the US because of the far greater military potential of the US. With Military bases around the world there's not really any way to wage an effective war against the US since they can strike anywhere, and countries know this and they know they couldn't win a war with the US so they will never try and ultimately North Korea will fall in on itself over time anyway.
  •
I wouldn't really call North Korea a major threat but that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep an eye on them though. The Government has threatened the United States with an all-out war or a nuclear attack, but with no actual outcome. North Korea is a country that is bark with no bite. Our military arsenal is far superior in every way possible and for any country like North Korea were to attack us it would be their entire government brought down to rubbles. Saddam Hussein found out the hard way in Iraq.
  •
North Korea has always been an issue and I think they should keep an eye on them. We've almost always had issues with them it's hard to imagine being allies with them like that.
  •
North Korea has always been a threat to the U.S. because of how unpredictable they can be. We have literally always had problems with them.

In light of UNMC study, teachers' union wants PCR tests in all schools - 7 views

  •
"after a first-of-its-kind study by UNMC and Omaha Public Schools found infection rates were six times higher in students than what was being reported in the community."
  • ...5 more comments...
  •
I think it's crazy just how large the rates actually were compared to what was being reported. My mom is a teacher in Omaha, so it makes me kind of worried that the rates are that high. I definitely think that they should be working on adding more protection for students and staff.
  •
I think it's good they are going through these measures to protect students and its crazy how high the rates are and something should be done about it
  •
I'm glad that schools are pushing for more testing. I think that students who are asymptomatic are more likely to think they are immune to Covid-19 and start disobeying Covid-19 safety measures. It's problematic because these students can spread Covid-19 to someone who will truly suffer from it. So, more testing is a good way to prevent this from happening.
  •
A lack of testing always gives the illusion that things are better than they are, so it's good that they got this done and found out these numbers because I think it's very important to realize this number especially since it was six times what was previously observed.
  •
it's good that they want to test kids more regularly. some kids will just brush it off and say "it's a cold". this way, the kids who are tested pos. won't be affecting others as well as the asymptomatic students.
  •
It is smart to be continuously testing students to know how the spread is going and in order to make sure that the students are being properly taken care of to prevent future cases.
  •
It's a good idea that schools are wanting to do more testing. It's crazy how these rates are getting and it's better that we do something about it now.

i totally agree. he should be treated the way he treated and what he did to james thimm and what he did to the little boy. the little boy was only 5 years old thats just dumb.
  •
How could you kill a person, let alone beat a five year old to death? What did the kid ever do to him...?
  •
I think he should be sentenced to death what he did was wrong and completely inhumane
  •
I think all people should be punished for crimes like that because if you don't other will just do the same
  •
Treat others the way you would want to be treated so he should be killed
  •
    Great thinking Koontz lol
  •
Yeah I agree killing killers is good because they killed some one else, so every one who kills some one should be killed by some one else.... wait, then that person would have to be killed. Maybe capital punishment isn't the best policy. Maybe prisons should focus on reform instead.
  •
I'm with Kevin. Yes, they did something wrong, but to kill them is just as wrong. Plus, you can sit behind a computer and say that you think he should die, but to actually be the person to do it is much different. You don't get that held on your conscience for killing someone, so of course you're fine with the killing of them. They're a monster. But still a person, and to kill them puts you on the same level of being a monster. And to do the same thing he did to the kid and the guy is even worse. Do you really think that it would be right to that? Could you personally do that to someone? Because if you can you are LITERALLY just as bad as he was.

I really like this article. I found it true and very knowledgeable. But some of the content, i found absolutely absurd. The fact that we can't take pictures in Court houses and places like that makes me think that the Government is hiding something from us that we aren't aloud to see. My opinion on that is as an American Citizen, they shouldn't be keeping secrets from us. They should tell us the truth whether it is good or bad. We have a right to know. But the whole Trespassing thing is just wow too because what if there is a place that is not clearly marked off.? You can get in so much trouble with out even knowing.
  •
this issue has come up recently in some cities passing laws against recording police specifically. I thought some of the comments on the original article were thought provoking as well.
  •
I agree with Eric I think the Government should let the public take pictures in those government buildings because we as people pay for those government buildings and I just think that's fair. I do also understand the law because somethings need to be private.
  •
I don't want to call anyone out or attack someones beliefs, but I believe that the government needs to keep secrets. If we release every detail, there would be major national security implications to deal with. While some secrets are ludicrous, sometimes a secret is better off not being shared.
  •
But if they shared everything with us, maybe we wouldn't be in such a crisis. Like if they told us where the heck all of our money is going... I just think it is completely absurd that they keep secrets from us.. this is supposed to be the land of they free. is it really free if they aren't telling us information that we want to know? I think not.
  •
i agree with alex i believe if they told us everything we would have more to worry about then knowing nothing
  •
Well have you ever thought that maybe that would be better for our Country? To Actually think.....?

What a Joe Biden presidency means for taxes, health care, housing, student debt - and a... - 7 views

I've heard many things about Biden being president, most predominantly gas going up and Kamala Harris taking over for Biden which I kinda see happening. I feel like they'll say Biden's mentally unfit or bring up the Hunter Biden stuff and Harris will take over.

Hopefully, this new president will give America a chance to turn over a new leaf and repair the damages that had been previously done.
  •
Hopefully he make us wear mask everyday then corona is gonna over.
  •
I think a lot of people are going to struggle with the price inflation and it's going to be a little rocky.
  •
I'm hoping that we'll be able to see more progress and actions towards covid, climate change, and more from this new president.
  •
I personally was hoping for Biden to win, but after hearing some things and doing more research it's unclear. No one is perfect, but I can say all we can do is hope for the best. I just hope for my generation he will help us in the long run for our future.
  •
I agree with Michael, that Kamala Harris is going to take over for Biden. I also think that raising taxes for the people who make over $400,000 a year is not fair.
  •
i am glad that biden is going to broadened health care coverage and student loan forgiveness i think this will help many poeple
  •
I think health care is going to help many people, but the fact that people that make a certain amount of money, have to pay higher taxes, is not fair.
  •
I also think that a lot of people are going to struggle with the prices inflating. But I just hope that with Biden being president more people can be tolerant with each other since no one was doing then when Trump was in office.
  •
I think that people who make a certain amount of money shouldn't have to pay more taxes, it's not fair.
