President Barack Obama is suddenly searching for a new Supreme Court justice after the death of conservative icon Antonin Scalia left a rare vacancy at the pinnacle of U.S. jurisprudence.

Sanders is a self-described democratic socialist, who's not letting up against Clinton. Clinton has tried to move left to counter Sanders's strength on some issues, with mixed success. The turf on which the two are fighting now is much further from the center than it once was: Democrats are seven percentage points more likely to identify as liberal than they were in 2007, before the last contested primary.

A convoy carrying desperately needed food aid to a besieged Syrian town set off Monday as part of a U.N-backed agreement to bring relief to people believed to be facing starvation. Several dozen vehicles bringing food and medical supplies left the Syrian capital, Damascus, for Madaya, a town near the Lebanese border cut off by Syrian forces.

After all, the most significant U.S. response to the threats facing the West post-9/11 was regime change in Iraq and Afghanistan, an approach that cost thousands of American lives and a trillion dollars, but which has failed to eliminate the threat to American citizens while leaving the Middle East in an even bigger mess than it was.
