I think it's fair because If you want an A then do the work, But if you're a kid that doesn't care about your grades and do nothing, I wish you good luck in life.
I don't think it's fair because most kids don't learn in the same way as others do. Some people are auditory learners and can learn how to do things just by listening, whereas others are hands-on learners. Another reason why A-F grades are not fair is because of ADHD or other mental health problems, they can cause people to not be able to pay attention to what's going on or just not being motivated leading to students to give up and not try anymore.
I agree with carsonshaa because it may be harder to get better grades when you don't have as much motivation, but if you put in the same effort you do at school, you will get the grades you usually would if you weren't doing school from home. I think A-F grades are fair because they reflect your WORK and EFFORT that is put in. I get that things were harder since we had to stay home, but as long as you had zero distractions and put the phone away, you will be just fine.
I think it isn't the grading level that should change, but the expectations of teachers that should change, and honestly, most teachers have been incredibly lenient with deadlines this year, which I think is enough to every student the chance to perform well.
We went from having no school for numerous months to going back with hybrid and now at full time. It was difficult at first because of the lack of motivation during the break last school year. However, I feel like now it is time that students put effort and motivation back into their school work. I know that with COVID having the motivation to do anything is hard, but if we keep using that as an excuse then we will never accomplish anything.
I agree with tsmith461 because I personally think it's a lot harder to learn from home because I am a hands-on learner and I have to see what is happening and be able to ask questions and it's hard when you're online. Another factor that goes into online school not working for everyone is some students have to take care or help their younger siblings and that's a huge distraction that could make you fall behind. For a student to have to juggle doing online school and helping their siblings because the parents still have to go to work is really hard. So yes you do have to put effort into your work and try online but with distractions and having no motivation and no help it can be really hard to get an A.
I agree with @sydneykolln because the jump from an extended summer break to a school system that couldn't get their ideas straight was kind of mind-boggling. I remember hearing the announcement that we'd be out of school for two weeks. Then four weeks. Then the rest of the year. I was pretty stoked to hear the two and four-week announcements, but there was something almost cynical about the final announcement. No one got to say goodbye, and no one was ready to come back. When August rolled around, it was like everybody forgot what was going on because the school had seemed like such a distant thing. It has been a few months now, however, so like Sydney said it's about time to pick ourselves up and get to work.
