      Apparently the person who works tirelessly, giving respite, providing solutions - and being known for this is the ultimate WOM agent - spreader of the WOM contagion ;0)

      mouse over pink highlight - see who's the best contagion agent - buzz - Word of Mouth!
  • Call it viral, buzz or word-of-mouth advertising: Getting customers to spread the word about a new product through their social or professional networks is a hot strategy in the marketing world. Its proponents insist that the technique -- whether online or face-to-face -- is sure to boost a company's return on investment (ROI).
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • Who's the Leader? The study indicates that the spread of a product by word-of-mouth -- what the authors call "contagion" -- can and does happen over social networks. The study also indicates that marketers may need to re-think whom they identify as the best seeding points in their word-of-mouth campaigns.
  • Reputation Matters Physician 184 didn't stand out as a "self-reported opinion leader," but he did stand out in the second group. He was known widely in the local community because he was very involved with treating patients suffering from the disease, and worked tirelessly and closely with colleagues to solve problems and get things done

Twitter as a Micropayment system - broadstuff - 0 views

  • Here's the premise: Sign up, put some cash in your Twitpay account through another payment service like PayPal, and then send out a "tweet" to another Twitpay member, structured like "@josh twitpay $10 for beers." Twitpay takes a five-cent commission. Its founders are hoping that, eventually, it can be used for charity and disaster relief payments. It's a nifty idea, though not for everyone. You don't get cash out of it, for example--Twitpay reimburses you in the form of Amazon gift rewards instead
  •
    twitpay only pays out via amzon reward points rather than cash

ChangeThis :: View Proposal - 0 views

  • Society is in flux. The global economy is in meltdown. Education is in turmoil. Why? The world has, and is, changing faster than we can keep up. One of the reasons for this disconnect is our insistence on teaching our young people in the same way that we ourselves learned. We're teaching as if there were a dearth of resources, when actually we're spoiled for choice. 'Digital literacy' is a term much debated, but which allows us to grasp hold of an important concept. Literacy in the digital arena just isn't the same as it is when sitting at a desk with paper and pencil. But how is it different? And what can we do about it? Allow me to suggest some ways in which we can come up with a workable definition for 'digital literacy' and show you methods by which we can educate our young people for the blended digital/physical world they do, and shall, inhabit!

iCommons.org - Commoner Profile: 10 Questions for Loftwork's Chiaki Hayashi - 0 views

  • 9. What do you think can be done to better unify the relationship between art and business? We need to foster artists by letting them understand that art should be business - art flourishes not only through non-monetary activities, such as corporate philanthropy, but also by business activities such as art auctions, Mangas and such. If there is value to an artwork, it can be transformed into money. Thus, it's not difficult to make business from art, like we have.

PhilanTopic: Might and Right: The Shape of Philanthropy to Come - 0 views

  • The study arose out of efforts by the European Commission, the European Foundation Centre, and others to cut through the maze of foundation tax laws that impede foundations in Europe from engaging in cross-border activities. These barriers exact a cost of somewhere in the neighborhood of EUR 100 million per year that could be avoided by allowing foundations to constitute themselves as European foundations as opposed to being registered in a single country.
