I thought I would share a training document I was asked to put together on Twitter in the classroom. The section you may be most interested in is a step-by-step guide to publishing a twitter feed to a blank page within a blackboard course. Here's a look at how the conversion from Blackboard to Canvas looks (folder to page) and some insights on how I've been redesigning around a page structure (Canvas) instead of a folder structure (Blackboard). To move my course, I exported from Blackboard, imported that file into Canvas, then waited about two hours for the conversion.

If you don't know what Facebook groups are, there's a good chance you haven't spent more than an hour on Facebook. However if you are a rare exception, we thought it would be useful to explain groups. According to Facebook, groups are "for members of groups to connect, share and even collaborate on a given topic or idea". While the company continues to make a distinction between groups and Facebook Pages, we see these products eventually merging over time.

Evernote is actually a great Delicious alternative. Unlike Delicious, Evernote allows you to clip your favorite webpage-text, images and links-so that you can view them at your leisure, online or offline. No more worrying about 404 errors or changing pages. True, we don't have the social features of Delicious, but if you want to save your favorite pages forever, Evernote is perfect.

E-books are becoming an increasingly popular medium for displaying information. And if you find yourself frequenting these new electronic books, you may have noticed that it becomes quite dull after a while. I, for one, miss the tangible page flip of a novel or a good instructional guide. That's why Codebox's web app - that's called PDF to Flash Page Flipper (or Flip) - appealed to me. It's an app that can replicate the more interesting animations found on my iPad or a similar tablet and put them onto my laptop. In fact, it's almost better, allowing you to turn any old PDF file into a superior flash-based and flippable book. The conversion process is fairly easy, with a lot of customization options that really don't need to be messed around with. All in all, it is a pretty slick app, at the right price….$0.

We're calling this new feature Projects. Whenever you have a particular assignment or activity, you can create a project for it, then define teams of members, each with its own unique pages, files, and permissions. Team content (that is, pages and files) are grouped together, separate from the main area of the wiki. That way, students in teams can do their group work completely independently from other teams.
