A pilot of the Canvas Learning Platform involving Western faculty, students and support staff, provided  strong support for a recommendation that Western transition from Blackboard to Canvas. A summary of  the results of the pilot study as well as options and timelines for the transition are presented in this  report. ATUS will continue to evaluate transition options and present those recommendations by March  30, 2013

Here's a look at how the conversion from Blackboard to Canvas looks (folder to page) and some insights on how I've been redesigning around a page structure (Canvas) instead of a folder structure (Blackboard). To move my course, I exported from Blackboard, imported that file into Canvas, then waited about two hours for the conversion.

This is our first large scale production "end of semester" with Canvas. We tried to capture the most important points without overwhelming you with details. Additionally, as Instructure receives feedback, Canvas behavior may change from what is outlined here. We will do our best to keep you informed with the latest changes from Instructure. At this time, there is no set time limit for courses to exist in Canvas. The college is discussing an appropriate time frame. Until this time frame is decided, we will not be deleting courses. We still recommend taking steps to back up important items from your course, especially the grade book and course structure.

Training for students, instructors, + "Public Courses about Canvas"

"In Summer 2013, Hinds Community College (as well as the other 14 community colleges in Mississippi) will move to the Canvas platform by Instructure as the new learning management system for the college.  Blackboard will no longer be available after June 1, 2013 to students or faculty.  This website will serve as the communication tool regarding the migration to Canvas.  Please check back often for additional information regarding best practices, timeline for implementation, and training materials. Canvas supports real-world, learner-owned, best-of-breed blogs in a number of ways. This session presents both the mechanisms that support blogging in Canvas as well as instructional designs that leverage these (and other) external web sites.

This video shows how to change the points possible per question for a 100-question Quiz in Canvas. The Quiz is exported, the export file is changed in a text editor and then imported back into Canvas.

"5 Keys to Rapid Course Development in Canvas Using Custom Tools"

The CIDI team implemented these open source tools by utilizing a "template wizard" and other supplementary custom tools to quickly build out course shells. ID's meet with instructors to create a course map, and based on an individualized needs analysis for the new course, the shell can be created in Canvas using 5 custom integrations.

any publishers and teachers have ExamView Question Banks that would be great to be able to import into Canvas rahter than typing it all out in the Quizzes tool. Well, you CAN do this!
