For my segment four project, I am creating a powerpoint presentation. This presentation is intended for me being the teacher and the audience being high school students, as I am educating them about the Amish lifestyle. This source is more specific for teachers and talks about what students like or dislike about teacher's powerpoints. Although directed to teachers, it would be helpful to anyone making a powerpoint.
This make up commercial uses situated ethos by having Carrie Underwood presenting their product. It also applies to pathos by saying "it use to take me forever", "intense eye color" and "simpler" showing the audience that a smokey eye isn't as hard or time consuming to apply as it use to be.
I've seen this commercial a few times and each time it grosses me out. This commercial has an audience of people that smoke, who should quit, but more importantly an audience of people to advise them not to start smoking in the first place. It uses micrologos by showing an example that if you smoke, it could result in you loosing your teeth (among other harmful effects).
This commercial was pretty funny! It also has situational ethos because burger king is a well known fast food company (It's no McDonalds though). It also uses plenty of examples of how tough these "manly men" that eat burger king are. It does so by showing a car being thrown off a bridge by the men and also a man pulling a heavy dump truck by the chains on his back.
Please tell me you remember this commercial?! Jif peanut butter has situated ethos because it is already well known. With the slogan "Choosey mom's choose Jif", they use an enthymeme assuming that ordinary mom[s that don't care as much would choose peanut butter that wasn't as good. The rhetor also uses pathos by showing two cute little boys sharing thier favorite snack, tugging on the audience's emotions.
I agree! The video uses situated ethos and uses pathos towards showing equal opportunity towards women. It focuses not only on women having "great hair" and feeling good about themselves, but also to empowering them as well.
I believe that this is rhetorical writing. With smokers being the primary audience, it seeks to persuade them to quit by informing them of all the reasons why they should stop. This article also states facts, builds community for smokers aiming to quit, etc.
I guess I'm a jock? That's a funny joke. I honestly think there are a few different choices for what you could be and they pick randomly for you. My responses were not even close!
Interesting parents view of teenage trends. A few of the trends are a little old and a couple I've never heard of....But snap chat is one of the trends that really applied to me!!! Check it out :)
