Welcome! In this tutorial, we're going to create a breakout clone that you can play in your browser, using javascript and the element. In order to use this tutorial, you'll need to have a relatively recent version of Firefox, Safari, or Opera. You cannot use Internet Explorer, because Microsoft hss decided not to implement the element in it. Before you read any further, click on the "run code" button on the left to play the game that we'll end up creating. On every page, you'll be able to click the "run code" button to run the code we've developed so far. Every page besides this one has an editor in it containing the javascript code that will be run in the same box as the game as soon as you click the button. You can make changes to the code, and see the results instantly by clicking the "run code" button. In order to make our lives easier, I've included the jQuery framework in every page, which extends javascript in your browser with some useful methods. We've gotten a number of comments and questions about the maps that appear on EveryBlock. People are wondering if we have created our own mapping platform, and why we didn't use the map offerings from services like Google, Yahoo!, or Microsoft.

FriendFeed has recently launched a search feature, and so Facebook search must be coming soon. Real-time Web search (of streams of activities) is a hot topic right now. Everyone, including Google and Microsoft, recognizes the value of using trusted contacts as filters. What was once called social search is now called real-time search, but this time it will really happen. First, it will be applied to streams and then to the Web in general. What we are about to get is a Social Relevancy Rank. Whenever you search streams of activity, the results will be ordered not chronologically but by how relevant each is to you based on your social graph. That is, people who matter more to you will bubble up. How does this work? Well, there will be a formula, just as there is a formula for Page Rank.

Much has been said about Microsoft's Project Natal since its announcement in the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last June 1. "Natal" was used as the code name of the project because natal means birth and Microsoft considers the latest Xbox 360 video game device as the next generation home entertainment system. It utilizes a motion sensor device that will eliminate the need for a traditional controller and lets the gamer use his full body to interact with the device while gaming.

oday I tried the new search engine bing.com beta from Microsoft. Something really special happened. Since my tries I don't know who I am anymore. First I searched for one of my best buddies, his name is Boris Wollny and see what bing.com sent me as the picture result.

The cost to make an iPod, Xbox, and other electronics has big bottom-line implications at Apple, Microsoft, and their peers. Some companies are willing to swallow losses on some gadgets-for instance, gaming consoles-in hopes that they'll make up the difference, and then some, on sales of related gear, such as video game software. Other companies, including Apple, are able to sell many products for a healthy profit from the get-go.
