Bastille does a very cool cover of Miley's "We Can't Stop" and change the lyrics up a little bit at the end and include some of "Achy Breaky Heart" into it. One of the comments under the video points out how they are using the intro to "Lose Yourself" by Eminem to suggest Miley is "losing herself". 

I love Bastille and I love this cover! I also liked how they changed up the song and made it a comment about Miley herself.

Another post from Rolling Stone this time a recent photo shoot. Interesting to see visually how Cyrus is flaunting her new edgy, grunge look.

Wow, I didn't even know she was going to be on the cover. It's especially interesting how, in one of the photo captions, Cyrus herself points out that there was a double standard at the VMAs.

I don't know if you guys heard this (actually I might post it) But because of her performance at the VMAs, Vogue withdrew Miley's chance to be on their cover in... November/December because of how disgraceful it was.

Britney Spears released the cover for her new album, "Britney Jean," on Friday. I found this article interesting because critics are saying that her album cover looks a lot like Miley Cyrus's "Bangerz."

We have heard the song, and heard parodies with opposite gender roles. What does everybody think about this cover with a female singing about a male. She does it in a much different way than we have seen with the actual song and the parodies we have looked at.

Cover of We Can't Stop that is interesting in its representation of black people. Links to what was discussed in class, in Cyrus' video the balck women are used as props in this video they play a much more active role.

This video is fascinating -- it seems to not only speak to Cyrus's original video, but also the Pixies video we watched the first day of class (I'm thinking of the scenes of bathing in milk and fruitloops). A perhaps reclaiming of black bodies and spaces?

Shows that people will take a singers art and make it their own. And this is done beautifully

Here is something to consider, are artists today becoming products of cultural thievery? From Madonna to Lady Gaga their use of clothing such as scarfs covering their faces, essentially mimicking certain cultural religions. For instance Lady Gaga's recent fashion statement is reminiscent of the Burka which is religiously worn by Muslim and Islamic females. She even has a song called 'Burqa', whether this is offensive or artistic is yet to be determined. On the other hand younger generations like Miley Cyrus appropriates the black culture and Selena Gomez is inspired by the bindi wearing, arabian dress look. <br /> Are these artists using other cultures for attention and promoting their fame or is it just a gimmick?

I found this article really interesting because it gave an insight into Miley Cyrus herself and how she feels about her transformation rather than the hundreds of articles judging her without any context of Cyrus' intention. I liked the quote, where Cyrus stated that changing her hair effected everyone else more than her, I think it put the media fascination in an interesting light.

I think it is very interesting here that they say we have been so consumed with Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry that we have sort of forgot about Lady Gaga.

dubstep covers of pop songs is becoming increasingly more popular so I thought this one is a good one for people to listen too. Even if you dont think you'll like dubstep its pretty mellow and worth a listen
