LYRIC PREMIERE: Britney Spears "Perfume" - 0 views

  •
"...The song, the second that fans will hear from Britney Spears upcoming album Britney Jean, is a personal ballad that was co-written by Britney and Sia Furler, and produced by will.i.am. Britney has admitted that much of her new album was inspired by her break-up with ex-fiancé Jason Trawick, so the subject matter of "Perfume" shouldn't surprise you. It's an emotionally powerful song about jealousy and self-doubt... " I found these lyrics interesting because it seems the narrator of the song is aware their sig. other is cheating on them, but rather than "take action" and address the situation, the narrator uses more subtle actions and ultimately, damages herself. While one can appreciate Spears' attempt to encompass a large amount of deeper emotions, I personally believe this deters from feminism; these lyrics causes the woman to become the submissive in yet another aspect of life and seem like the cause of all issues.

Beyonce, Pink and Britney Pepsi commerical - 0 views

  •
This video is in response to Emily's post regarding Katy Perry and the back lash she faces after agreeing to do a pepsi commercial. I absolutly loved this commerical with Beyonce, Pink and Britney but hate pepsi therefore I was in no way encouraged to buy. The point I am trying to make is that the consumer groups in Emilys article seem to disrigard the fact that some people enjoy seeing there favourite artist anywhere and when an awesome video (in my opinon) like this is made I would not want to see it cancelled purely beacuse some people think Pepsi is bad for you. Surely having fun watching you three favourite singers is good for you?

This commercial is very intriguing because it reminds me of the old Pepsi commercials Britney Spears did back in the early 2000s. I wasn't as sucked into this one as I used to be by the old ones; it could be because I LOVED Britney Spears growing up, but I like Beyonce and still preferred the old commercials over this one. I'll post an old Pepsi commercial with just Britney Spears in it. Interesting find! :)

Britney Spears - Joy of Pepsi (2001) - 1 views

  •
I watched a video that someone else posted of the Pepsi commercial with Beyonce, Pink, and Britney Spears, and I thought it would be fun to post an older commercial that Britney did for comparison. I remembered that she did a variety of advertisements for them, but here's one of the first ones I found on Youtube.

This tumblr blog post contains images of various female artists who have appeared nude in their videos, noting the reaction to Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball" has been different than to other artists' nudity, who have been called "artistic," "beautiful," "cute," and "sexy," while Cyrus gets shamed as "slutty."

Charlamagne on Miley Cyrus and Ratchet Culture - 1 views

Another take on Miley Cyrus and ratchet culture. Although it's clear Charlamagne's trying to be funny at points, he does raise some interesting issues concerning Miley (though, in my opinion, he's rather ignorant in the way he explains himself). He also mentions Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlake in this video.
