Students who get tutored one on one often perform better than their peers. Peer tutoring helps the engagement of the student at any age. College especially, since classes are harder and it is often harder to pay attention and keep up with the work. Every tutor has their own process for their student. Peer tutoring is better since the student and tutor can relate.

The most important thing about this journal entry is the table showing the age of its readers and the number of alcohol related ads that are in each magazine. While some magazines have very few, others like sports illustrated has one of the highest alcohol advertisement rate between 1997 and 2001. The statistics here are a well layed out mathmatically measured data that supports the argument of how alcohol companies are indeed placing their product in places that will most likely be veiwed by people who are underage.

Though peer tutors have their own learning method, they take what the tutee is good at and combine it with their own way of learning. Thus having more of an effective learning style than in the classroom. This article also states that peer tutoring at all ages is effective and can only benefit the students. Tutors can help determine new learning methods for the tutees.

They need to look at reading and writing as communication practices from an early age. It is also talks about how speech production can be improved through writing instructions. Social interaction is a large part of developing literacy.

Introducing multicultural literature into the classroom is necessary in providing a wider view that opens students to insights of other cultures. Landt claims that if multicultural literature were an integrated part of education teachers wouldn't be struggling to incorporate diversity and multicultural education in their classes. Several important reasons for this assimilation is to acknowledge the many cultures and their contributions to the world. It also helps to bring children into contact with other cultures and helps them to develop awareness at an early age, which will encourage respect for all peoples.

While e-books still don't take up a large portion of books sold, it is predicted to increase as the main group of consumers, middle-aged women, is replaced with newer generations.

In order to raise awareness of financial literacy college professors have begun developing classes to teach students how to become financially independent.

The effects technology has on younger kids is described in this article. Research was conducted to determine if younger kids were impacted and exactly how they were impacted. The outcome was to find out how technology effected academic achievement in the designated age groups. I will use this information in putting together a side of how kids are impacted (positively or negatively) by technology.
