The study was to see how the incorporation of technology affected to students academic performance. The mix of books and technology was to see which way of teaching is more efficient. Since kids grew up with technology it was an easy transition for them to use the PDAs.

This article is from England where Valerie Singleton is launching a new computer which only has six buttons, targeted primarily at the senior citizen age group. The screen of the computer is where the six buttons are located, and this computer is designed for the elderly person to be able to search the web with ease. The new computer is called a "simplicITy."

This article talks about how the new technologies with broadband make computer usage easier for the everyday senior citizen. It talks about how our everyday knew technology can be applied in ways we have never thought of before. New software are faster and better, and give more capabilities than ever before. These capabilities can be more easily taught to the elderly and make the computers a heck of a lot easier to use for them.

This book is about the advantages of the uses of science and technolgoy in a classroom setting. It gives responses from the defferent points of view of students and teachers. You can see what ideas in which both students and teachers agree with and which disagree with. It discusses the pros and cons behind each arguement.

This article focuses on how ICT's (information and communication technologies) have transformed reading, writing, and education. Written communication has become less formal and the syntax and layout has changed. However, technology has enabled students to engage in "creative and collaborative communication." It has also enabled the practice of writing through everyday activities such as texting. The Internet, especially, and cell phones can be used to facilitate learning when incorporated creatively into the classroom.

This article acknowledges the growing prevalence of instant messaging and text messaging in today's society. It reveals the two different beliefs of how these new forms of communication affect writing. One belief is that it has caused a "breakdown of the English language" from the use of abbreviations and lack of punctuation. The second is that students have been encouraged to write more and that it is helping them practice their literacy skills. These technologies can be used as learning tools, but the problem is that students have a hard time distinguishing when to use informal and when to use formal writing. The challenge now is how to teach children how to use this new tool for literacy.

It shows both the positive and negative effects of a very "connected" society. It also discusses the effects of this new technology and social media on the literacy of students.

It starts with an introduction about why we need to help the elderly, and how much of a blessing a computer would be for some elderly people. After this introduction it moves into the steps of how to slowly integrate the senior citizen to their knew computer. It is a five step process that will improve a senior citizens life, and make them fluent with their computer.

In the article, Price goes over how journalism has changed through the years and more recently with the internet. He gives standards that have been aimed for throughout its history and then clearly gives the differences between news and opinion. With the use of "news-like" websites, this seperation and standards are not always used and seen. With the pressure of the internet and the shrinking news staff, serious journalist wonder what will survive and rise up in the next few decades.

The article mentions that because kids are so involved in texting and instant messaging, teachers are coming up with new ways of explaining topics so kids understand it better. Texting and instant messaging have great impacts on our learning.

This article discusses the technological changes that took place throughout the twenty first century. Many advancements have been made, therefore, changes need to take place within the people of the time period, too. This article deals with how people have made changes to their lives in order to modernize them with the uses of new techonology that has been introduced in the past few decades.

This article speaks about the reluctance there is to move forward with the times and adopt new technological innovations. This reluctance from teachers may be from the fact that they believe that Facebook is the same as email, just a way to communicate, and see no reason for change. The article also agrees with the counter in that educational institutions see Facebook as a way to communicate with their students, and do just that. They see it as a way to almost relate with their students and to keep them informed. It also talks about how big of an influence social networks and the Internet are in students lives and how beneficial it is to integrate it into learning in the classroom. The article addresses the ways colleges are using Facebook to connect.

Discusses a study released by researchers at Case Western Reserve University that found a correlation between amount of time teenagers spent text messaging and social networking and their propensity to participate in risky behaviors such as drinking, smoking, doing drugs, and having sex. If anyone is interested in this, you might try tracking down the original Case Western study.

This article describes a study in which college students were tested in a classroom setting to see if using a computer beneftied them on the exam. It shows that it is not always effective, and goes into detail about why it might not be. Techonological advances have changed the way we learn in many ways; however, this does not necessarily mean that it has been chagned in positive ways. The common misconception is that anything new and improved is always beneficial; this article shows that it's not always the case.
