"A 'Center for Commercial and Agricultural Information' (PICA) for the collection and the publication of price lists via the internet has been launched in Togo to enable farmers and traders to interact over prices and availability of products by ICT The center is equipped with computer and Internet facilities with a web page www.tradenet.biz with a strong integration of data and mobile technology. The center will allow producers and tradesmen to consult in real time over price lists that are in conformity with the ECOWAS region."

Further, what institutional arrangements need to be addressed to more effectively reach smallholders to enable them improve their agricultural productivity and enterprises? "

Increasing agricultural productivity in developing countries and promoting youth employment and entrepreneurship are important recommendations of the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) play an important role. Young entrepreneurs using ICT innovations are particularly suited to contribute to increased agricultural productivity and sustainability given their inventiveness, energy and capacity to take risks.

"Agboville - Le ministre de la Poste et des Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication (PTIC), Bruno Nabagné Koné a exposé les axes stratégiques majeurs pour une meilleure application des conclusions de l'atelier de priorisation des projets du plan d'action du document de stratégie nationale e-Agriculture. « Notre stratégie est bâtie autour de cinq axes stratégiques », a affirmé le ministre des PTIC, vendredi lors de la clôture de l'atelier entamé mardi à Agboville, en vue de rechercher l'application de méthodes modernes pour booster l'Agriculture ivoirienne. Le troisième axe auquel a fait allusion le ministre Koné est de créer l'accès au réseau, y compris dans les contrés les plus reculées. « Nous prévoyons 3.000 centres multimédias à travers le pays », assure-t-il. Le cinquième axe concerne la maîtrise de l'outil, avec la réouverture des grandes écoles de formation des TIC, a précisé le ministre de la Poste et des TIC. Ce projet permettra la transparence, plus d'économie et la modernisation du travail agricole, afin de promouvoir la bonne gouvernance et lutter contre la pauvreté. L'interconnexion, afin d'obtenir des informations en temps réel dans les centres de proximité. « Le Président Ouattara attache beaucoup de prix à la mise en œuvre de ce projet », assure M. Koné."

"An Agribusiness Education Fair will be held at the World Agroforestry Centre, Nairobi, Kenya from 9th - 11th October 2013. The fair is being organized by the African Network for Agriculture, Agroforestry and Natural Resources Education in conjunction with the Forum For Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), Pan African Agribusiness Consortium (PanAAC) and the Association of African Business Schools (AABS). The objective of the fair is to improve Agribusiness teaching and research through stronger linkages of Training institutions with Business and Private sector."

Si le terme d'agroécologie recouvre des pratiques très diverses (agriculture biologique, de conservation, écologiquement intensive, révolution doublement verte…), un certain nombre d'éléments communs permettent d'en cerner les contours : le refus de l'agriculture conventionnelle, le respect de l'environnement, un mouvement vers une agriculture qui tend à utiliser intensivement les capacités spécifiques des écosystèmes, une agriculture plus autonome et plus locale.

Ethiopia's farmers are flocking to a hotline that provides free agricultural advice about planting crops, using fertiliser and preparing land as part of a government initiative to turn subsistence farmers into surplus sellers. The automated hotline has received nearly 1.5m calls from more than 300,000 farmers since it launched 12 weeks ago, according to Khalid Bomba, CEO of the Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), an internationally backed government initiative. The 90 lines are now taking an average of 35,000 calls a day.

Visiting the agricultural development projects supported by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) in Mozambique, I was amazed by the number of young faces I saw in the villages. However, the resounding sentiment is that young people do not want to be farmers. This is causing deep concern amongst many over how to keep the growing youth of Mozambique in agriculture. With the 11th highest birth rate in the world, and a growth rate of 2.45% a year, the population of Mozambique is growing, fast. More food will soon be needed to sustain the expanding population.

On August 24-28, 2015, 100 young leaders from around the world gathered at the Global Youth Ag-Summit in Canberra, Australia to discuss ideas, develop a vision and deliver action. An initiative of Bayer CropScience, the Summit was held in conjunction with Australia's only national youth agricultural network "Future Famers Network" (FFN) Australia. Operating since 2002, Future Farmers Network connects and supports young Australians involved in all facets of agriculture and provides members with access to the latest news, events, scholarships, wards and information from across all aspects of the Australian agricultural sector.

The summit is organized by CCARDESA, SADC and Agriculture Research Council (ARC-South Africa) and co-hosted by Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) in South Africa.

In collaboration with CORAF/WECARD and Canada's IDRC, IITA will support 20 individuals for PhD and masters research in agriculture for development in West and Central Africa. Applications are invited from qualified individuals in Chad, Dem Rep Congo, Sierra Leone, and Togo who are currently registered in PhD. or masters programs in recognized universities, and who are not more than 40 years old. The program particularly invites applications from women. The accepted applicants will be offered coaching and training through IITA to build their research knowledge and skills.

Le 30 janvier 2014, le Gret organise pour la Commission agriculture et alimentation (C2A) de Coordination SUD un atelier sur « Accords de partenariat économique : quels enjeux pour les pays du Sud ? » Douze ans après le lancement des négociations d'Accords de partenariat économique (APE) entre l'Union européenne et les Pays ACP (Afrique, Caraïbes, Pacifique), en quoi les politiques commerciales et les accords commerciaux constituent-ils un enjeu pour le développement économique et social des pays ACP, et notamment pour leur agriculture et leur sécurité alimentaire ? Quels sont les enjeux spécifiques des APE en cours de négociation ? Face au blocage des négociations et aux dangers que font peser les APE pour les pays ACP et leurs processus d'intégration régionale, quelles sont les alternatives ? Les analyses et propositions de la Commission agriculture et alimentation (C2A) seront discutées avec des acteurs de la société civile européenne et des pays ACP, des représentants du Gouvernement français, de la Commission européenne et du Parlement européen.
