Il appuiera les unités de transformation développées par les OP à travers une meilleure valorisation des nouveaux procédés et technologies de transformation mis au point par les institutions de recherche afin d'accroitre en qualité l'offre des produits agroalimentaires transformés (produits halieutiques, niébé, ananas et soja) en Afrique de l'Ouest. The objective of the Governance for Competitiveness Technical Assistance Project is to strengthen the institutional capacity of selected institutions to improve competitiveness in selected sectors in Rwanda. There are four components to the project, the first component being support to priority Institutions under Strategic Capacity Building Initiative (SCBI). The objective of this component is to strengthen the institutional frameworks of the project selected priority institutions to better deliver on their respective mandates, in support of improved competitiveness and the implementation of Rwanda's Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS) and National Export Strategy (NES). The second component is the support for implementation of the NES. The objective of this component is to support the implementation of the NES's two key growth sectors: tourism and horticulture. It will: (a) provide assistance for the review and development of tourism and horticulture strategies and plans related to competitiveness; and (b) provide technical assistance to guide the implementation of these competitiveness strategies. The third component is the improved public-private dialogue for competitiveness. Finally, the fourth component is the project coordination. This component will support the coordination of the project under the Single Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM).

TAIEX REGIO PEER 2 PEER is designed to share expertise between bodies that manage funding under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund. What exchanges are supported? TAIEX REGIO PEER 2 PEER finances: Expert Missions: EU Member State experts can be sent to institutions in other Member States that have requested peer advice and exchange of experience on a specific topic. Expert missions can last between 2 to 5 days. Study Visits: employees (maximum 3) from a requesting institution can be sent on a working visit to other EU Member State institutions to learn from peers and exchange good practices. Study visits can last between 2 to 5 days. Workshops: single or multi-country workshops can be organised in a requesting institution. Workshops would normally last 2 days.

The Government of the Republic of Zambia has received a loan from the African Development Fund to finance the Support to Science and Technology Education Project (SSTEP). The principle objectives of the Project are to:  Increase access and improve quality and equity of science and technology in the three Higher Education institutions, namely University of Zambia, Copperbelt University and Mulungushi University, and  Increase access and improve quality and equity of science and technology in the Trades Training Institutions, namely Northern Technical College, Nkumbi International College, Choma Trades Training Institute and Lukashya Trades Training Institute, in line with Zambia's Vision 2030 priorities on Skills Development.

"For the first time since the beginning of the programme in June 2012, all participants and coordinators (coming from the three participating countries and the six partners' institutions) will gather together for a regional workshop in Hong Kong, organized by the Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong (HKU). In addition to the provision of courses on the use of projections and scenarios in the preparation of education sector development plans and the opportunity to discuss and consolidate their draft country plan documents (that they are required to submit at the end of the distance programme), this will be a wonderful occasion for participants and partner institutions to exchange and share their country experiences. The Universidad ISA of Santiago, the University of Stirling in the UK and the University of Guyana have held the constituent assembly of the Institute of Aquaculture and Aquaponics-INAQUAP- in Georgetown, Guyana, on October 28, 2015. The Institute of Aquaculture and Aquaponics (INAQUAP) is being established as a key outcome of the project funded by the ACP-EU EDULINK II called "PESCADO - Pioneering Education for Sustainability of Caribbean Aquaculture Development & Opportunities" - its acronym in English.

The Pan African University (PAU) seeks to develop institutions of excellence in science, technology, innovation, social sciences, and governance in Africa. The African Union offers the Pan African University Scholarship for masters and PhD degree programs at four PAU Institutes (in Algeria, Cameroon, Kenya, and Nigeria). Subject areas for the postgraduate educational programs include agriculture, water resources, arid lands management, energy, environmental management, and many others -- varying among the PAU Institutes.

"Deadline: 31 July 2013 The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM: see www.ruforum.org) is keen to document case studies where institutions and individual actors could share their experiences of working downstream with farmers; what are some of the lessons and skill mix that universities would need to take into account in terms of strengthening their academic programmes to produce graduates with a blend of necessary skills and competences that will facilitate change processes at community level. Further, what institutional arrangements need to be addressed to more effectively reach smallholders to enable them improve their agricultural productivity and enterprises? "

With financial support from the government of Sweden, the AAU will make grants of up to US$600 per person to help post-graduate university students acquire practical skills via internships of 12-24 weeks. The grants are for training purposes only, not for the completion of theses or dissertations. The program is open to students in AAU member institutions in southern and eastern Africa, and in Francophone member institutions. The deadline for applications (English, French) is 15 August 2016.

Trente-trois études de cas constituées pendant trois ans par l'Oakland Institute auprès d'une population de deux millions de foyers ruraux d'Afrique subsaharienne vantent le "potentiel économique, social et de sécurité alimentaire" des techniques agroécologiques. Diversification des espèces cultivées, semis de deux types de plantes dans un même champ (cultures intercalaires), fertilité des sols ménagées grâce au fumier et au composte, traitement biologique des mauvaises herbes, etc. l'application de ces techniques agroécologiques, relativement simples à déployer, peut faire des merveilles. C'est le plaidoyer que développe l'ONG américaine Oakland Institute, en pointe sur les questions environnementales, à travers 33 études de cas et rendues publiques mi-novembre.

The three-day Fair, whose objective to improve Agribusiness teaching, research and practice through stronger linkages between Training/research institutions and the private sector' brings together academicians, the private sector, International Non-Governmental Organizations, policy makers, students and entrepreneurs drawn from across Africa. Les institutions publiques qui achètent des denrées alimentaires (communes, écoles, hôpitaux,…) ont fréquemment cherché à se fournir au moindre coût. Mais de plus en plus d'initiatives émergent pour ne plus faire du prix l'unique critère de choix, en prenant en compte d'autres critères : sociaux, éthiques, environnementaux, etc. Des institutions -tant chez nous que dans les pays du Sud- peuvent ainsi faire le choix de se fournir localement, auprès des agriculteurs familiaux. Ces achats publics peuvent-ils constituer un instrument de soutien à l'agriculture familiale ? A quelles conditions ? Ces questions ont été discutées les 23 et 24 avril derniers lors de plusieurs événements organisés par le CSA en collaboration avec la FWA, avec la participation d'une dizaine d'organisations paysannes venant de contrées aussi diverses que le Cambodge, le Congo RDC, les Philippines, le Sénégal, le Brésil, le Burundi et l'Indonésie !

"The largest European Commission research project is being developed to enhance the European aquaculture production by removing production bottlenecks of emerging species, producing new products and accessing new markets. It is Diversify project, which is funded under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission and had its kickoff meeting at the Hellenic Center for Marine Research in Greece in January 2014. Coordinated by Dr. Constantinos C Mylonas of the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture, a total of 38 partners from Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Israel, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, the United Kingdom, Germany and Hungary have participated in this 5-year-long research. The Netherlands is represented by Wageningen University's DLO, The National Institute for Fisheries Studies and the Technical University of Eindhoven."

"On April 25-26, the AYA Forum is being organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB), in collaboration with Partners in GFAR: CTA, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the African Agribusiness Incubation Network (AAIN). About 250 young agripreneurs from across Africa, as well as institutional and business partners, are expected to attend. As a pre-event to the AYA Forum, CTA will run, on, a workshop entitled Accelerating Youth Agriculture Entrepreneurship Using ICTs. This workshop is designed for partners including development organisations, venture capitalists, young start-up companies, farmer organisations and representatives of national entrepreneurship programmes."
