They all think big when envisaging how we might design and create engaging and meaningful learning experiences. My key takeaways: Creativity should have the same status as literacy. Solving problems sparks curiosity and creativity. Conversely giving the learner too much information can kill that buzz. We need creative problem solvers for our future. Learning happens best when it is social, collaborative, has meaning and is on the learners terms."

60 Second Recap is an awesome new site that has one goal, they want to make the great works of literature accessible, relevant, and irresistible to today's teens. Using short (60 second) video albums, they seek to help teens engage with the best books out there ... not just to help them get better grades, but "to help them build better lives". Looks like a welcome and nice alternative for Cliff Notes and Spark Notes. Check this one out - it only takes a minute.

"Many a debate is sparked in education about the need for 'engagement' in teaching and learning. Some dismiss 'engagement' as the bastard language of OFSTED to encourage an adventure playground style approach to learning. For me it is something a little more quotidian, a little bit more…well, normal. It captures a buzz symptomatic of students tackling a challenge with effort and enjoyment. That being said, perhaps engagement isn't the key at all. Maybe, against our instincts we should concentrate on boredom as the real secret to success for learning."
