Digital Natives - 2 views

  •
This is an article I found on the EBSCO data base through the UAlbany library titled "Digital natives? New and old media and children's outcomes" by Michael Bittman, Leonie Rutherford, Jude Brown and Lens Unsworth. This article discusses digital natives and how they react to media. I wanted to share this article in order to help raise the question about whether or not the aging of digital natives will influence the age demographics of online learners in the future.

In Defense of the Sage on the Stage: Escaping from the 'Sorcery' of Learnin...: University Libraries eDiscover Service - 0 views

  •
I found this article in the UAlbany library - if the link doesn't work, do a search for "In Defense of the Sage on the Stage" by Marianne Jennings. It's a fascinating article, a long read, but passionate in its insistence that we have gone too far in our efforts to make everything student-centered. Jennings makes the argument that there IS still room for the "brilliant lecturer."

A couple of points relating to my post: 1. traditional courses should not be just uploaded, must rethink how to design a course to suit online environment 2. assessments should tie other ares of the course and learning together

To start with many new Web 2.0 tools, that pre-occupied me for a major part of the first week of class. No doubt I struggled with setting up the blog, learning diigo, voicethread, etc. But throughout the frustration, I really enjoyed learning how to use these new tools and very happy to now have them in my elearning toolset! It is very exciting to see all of the great interactive tools available on the web to aid with online teaching an learning!
