How Do Graphic Designers Stay Inspired | 10 Best Tips - 0 views

  •
Designing is a mixture of your creativity and the tool you use to make your designs. If you are creative but doesn't know how to use a tool (software/simple tool), then you may get somewhere even if using only basic tools. But if you know how to use a tool but doesn't have the creativity to continue on, then your knowledge can go to a waste. Creativity is what push you to start thinking and keeps you inspired. Without creativity you will be clueless about what you are going to design. Inspiration is everywhere you go. You can get inspired from small and little things you see on a daily basis. We do not give importance to the things we see on a daily basis, but a little shift of our perspective can make us look quite differently on these things.

What Is Rebranding And Why It Is So Important? - 0 views

  •
When we talk about brands, we think of their appeal. A brand can make a huge impact in the eyes of customer with just its Logo, Color scheme, Packaging and Motto. In short, its representation through designing. A good brand can bring you sale, well everyone knows it. Brands always need to get updated in every department possible. In terms of making it appealing in design, we call it branding.

diigo? | Alex's reflecting pool - 0 views

  • I believe there is something very powerful  in this tool. I am in the process evaluating it for instructional and professional development purposes. So far these are my thoughts: I think I can easily mark up online student work with this tool. I think online students can mark up each otherโ€™s online work with this tool. and discuss. One of the course activities is to use a rubric to evaluate an online course that the students will each be building as the main project for the course. The course review, I think, can be done using diigo. I thinkโ€ฆ not sure yet. Online students can easily create annotated bibliographies of web resource in directed learning activities AND share and discuss them with others in the class. This resource can grow and be available for the online course from term to term. In addition, for webenhanced courses, this is an awesome, easy, slick, cool way to incorporate some very cool online enhancements to a f2f course that completely bypasses all the extra unnecessary flotsam you get with a full on CMS/LMS. you get a lot of functional features bang for the โ€œbuckโ€ in this tool. It is a slick tool with a lot of functionality to suport interaction/collaboration, etc. When i have my university administratorโ€™s hat on i also see great potential as a tool to facilitate and enhance community and for professional development. I have an extended staff of 50-100 online instructional designers that i could use this tool with to aggregate links and info and resources and networking. We have over 3,000 online faculty that we could use this with to support them with info and resources and networking - differenciating between the needs of new online faculty and experienced online facultyโ€ฆ there is potential for discipline specific resources and info for online facultyโ€ฆ and it goes on.

OHagOnline.com Blog ยป Diigo: A Web 2.0 Tombstone in the Making? - 0 views

  • 3. Diigo has shown a committment to listening to its users. Well at least the educational users, and they have been making small changes almost daily since Lisa Parisi held the elluminate session this past Sunday. Maggie Tsai and Wade Ren have been in and out of multiple conversations on Diigo and posting on edubloggers pages (Look up) to actively understand our needs and look to make changed in Diigo to fit the educational modelโ€ฆ You can be offended by the โ€œhateโ€ comment Wade made, but this is his company and he wants to make change to satisify folksโ€ฆ I really like delicious since I was introduced to it a year ago. Easy linking, I can tag from a tool bar with comments I can build a passive networkโ€ฆ But Delicious is not listening to folks or making changes even though they โ€œintroducedโ€ their version 2 about a year ago, and it has not appeared. Even the tech bloggers are taking delicious to task for this. The responsiveness that Wade and Maggie have shown so far is really impressive in my opinion. Just wanted to share my thoughts on why I am continuing to investigate and use Diigo. I know that you feel a bit targeted for โ€œnot drinking the coolaidโ€ but I think what you are getting hit hard on is if you donโ€™t like the service you do not have to use it. Or with the participation Wade and Maggie are showing get involved and see if it can become what you would like to seeโ€ฆ Just my thoughts, Scott

Thank you, Scott. I couldn't have said better
  • # Scott Weidigon 02 Apr 2008 at 10:27 pm Jim, I went to post this on Diigo and then hit my back space and went to a different page and lost everything booโ€ฆ but I thought that I would post here instead. I am becoming more enamored over time with Diigo. At first I didnโ€™t get the hooplaโ€ฆ I donโ€™t โ€œdoโ€ facebooks and myspaces etc. and I have enough of a hard time keeping up with twitter (donโ€™t know how coolcatteacher and Dembo follow 1000+ folksโ€ฆ ) so I didnโ€™t think much of the social side. But it could host links and re-post them to delicious so not too badโ€ฆ here is what is changing my mind. 1. Bookmarkingโ€ฆ on one hand it is the same as delicious tags yadda yaddaโ€ฆ but I can now tag a s ite, send it to friends in the diigo network and outside of it, forward it to a specific topic group and throw it into a specifically designed list at the same time! That is efficient in my mind. the Twit thing is neat too so I donโ€™t have to tinyurl it and post to twitterโ€ฆ and I can even keep my delicious account updated through Diigo so I donโ€™t have to do double workโ€ฆ (and when i imported it brough my delicious notes that was a nice touch)
  • 2. Annotation/stikites/highlighting. We all research and move information into different places, google notebook, MS OneNote, Zoho Notobookโ€ฆ but those pieces of information are then only our notes and ideasโ€ฆ Diigoโ€™s highlighint and annotation allows you to make any page a conversational document. That is powerful. I just played with it for the first time today and was blown away with ease at which you could do this. those notes can then be seen by any diigo user. The collaborative possibilities are astounding. if you have not tried this or seen it go to http://lisaslingo.blogspot.com and scroll down to the Best Day Ever post. If you have your Diigo sidebar open you will see two notes, and the Highlighing that Steve Kimmel did. Also, I donโ€™t know if it is showing up yet I tagged a sticky note next to the first picture thereโ€ฆ my comments appear in the side bar, but I see the note markup and I am thinking others will to eventually, but am not sure. Think of all the times your teachers ahve been trying to teach textmarking but canโ€™t in the Textbooksโ€ฆ now we can do this to the web.

Diigo Launches, Nobody Cares - Mashable* - 0 views

  • a crowded space - Ma.gnolia, eSnips, Jots, Fungow, SpinSpy, Simpy, RawSugar are just a few of the players here.
  • Diigo aims to create a better social bookmarking tool.
  • Once again, I think itโ€™s a case of too little, too late.
  • ...16 more annotations...
  • Rival Clipmarks offers some similar annotation features.
  • t theyโ€™re offering a โ€œbetter del.icio.usโ€
  • Diigo isnโ€™t a terrible product, but I think itโ€™s safe to say itโ€™s going nowhere. Aside from the few hundred users who find the additional features useful, itโ€™s unlikely to see any real adoption.
  • As I said in an email to you guys, Iโ€™m sorry for being so tactless about this - and youโ€™re right that I didnโ€™t give a fair run down of your features. Nonetheless, I do wonder if you might struggle to differentiate the offering in this market.
  • Best thing about Diigo by far is the inadvertent smiling walrus in the logo. The siteโ€™s starting a footrace thatโ€™s already over, but that walrus is seriously cute!
  • These services depend on volume to experience any success at all, being collective intelligence models.
  • If you have ever tried to use it I can assure you it is pretty painful. I am not sure if it is something personal to me, but I find their UI design very painful.
  • I say that review was spot on except for the line: โ€œDiigo isnโ€™t a terrible productโ€
  • Diigo Launches, Nobody Cares
  • If youโ€™re looking for some awesome blogging and research tools in addition to everything youโ€™d expect in a bookmarking service, then explore the depth of services that Diigo has to offer. In my opinion Diigo isnโ€™t just a tool, itโ€™s more akin to a household appliance.
  • This space is seriously crowed!
  • โ€œDiigoletโ€ (no Flock version yet)
  • I hate it when I read a nice blog post and at the bottom they have a โ€œLiked this Article? Bookmark us!โ€ section, and there are 26 entries (no kidding!).
  • Diigo is different, not because it canโ€™t do what the other services do. Itโ€™s different because it puts the userโ€™s needs first and centre, instead of using the user for information aggregation purposes.
  • 32. the Wandering Author - July 29, 2006 What I donโ€™t understand is why anyone should care about the opinion of a blogger who apparently posts without even knowing anything about his subject. I spend a lot of time doing research, some of it on the Internet. I have a whole, long list of somewhat nice tools I have come across. Most of them are things I might use occasionally. I would never even think of adding toolbars for most of them, or setting up a permanent tab in Firefox to keep them always available - Iโ€™d just clutter up my workspace. But that is exactly what I have done with Diigo - I installed their toolbar and I set up a permanent Firefox tab for them. Why? I can share bookmarks with others when I need to, but much more importantly, I can highlight, annotate, clip, and bookmark any Web content I choose, all in one central, convenient spot. Diigo is like a well-loved research notebook crammed with notes for current projects, past projects, possible future projects. Unlike most of the bookmarking โ€œservicesโ€, I can go back to a page and see my own notes reminding me of the thought which prompted me to bookmark it. There is nothing else that even approaches it on the Web, or if there is, I havenโ€™t heard of it. The only other social bookmarking service I consider of any real use is eSnips, which allows me to upload files for sharing with a group of my choice. Which is an entirely different feature. But, I could more easily imagine Diigo adding that functionality to their existing site than I could imagine eSnips catching up to Diigo. Personally, I hope both eSnips and Diigo survive, but if only one of them is to be a success, my vote is firmly with Diigo. As for all the other, popular social bookmarking sites out there - yes, it was a somewhat interesting idea, but they have already been left in the dust by Diigo. Calling Diigo โ€œjust anotherโ€ site like the others is as absurd as it would be to label the first interstellar spaceship โ€œjust another aircraftโ€. Yes, I can think of features or tweaks I wish Diigo would add. But theyโ€™re just starting out. Iโ€™m sure the first interstellar spacecraft will need a few refits, too. But thatโ€™s no reason to suggest we might as well all stay on Earth and ignore the rest of the Universe. Diigo opens up a much wider universe on the Web to me, and to many others. To all of you who donโ€™t care - enjoy being stranded in your little backwater pond as it stagnates - I will be out surfing the whole wide ocean of data out there. And I wonโ€™t waste any time worrying about you and your plight; after all, you brought it on yourselves by your apathy.
  • The question is: does anybody care?
