    Hi,
I want to mention that the Diigo Toolbar's bookmark edit window should be a bit more intelligent.

When I tag the bookmark, an autocomplete list rolls down with the suggested tags based on the already written part of the tag. Now, this is sorted alphabetically.

Let me suggest that it should be sorted by frecency, ie the most used and most recent tags sould be the first ones suggested, and less recent/frequent ones should be at the bottom of the list. This would make the tagging more convenient.

And let me suggest another feature. The tag completion is don by pressing the enter Button now, but it would be nice to allow the Right Arrow button to do this task also. In quite many applications it's done by this way, and it's quite disturbing to watch out not to the wrong action while filling drop-down listed textboxes like this. (Firefox 3's text boxes are filled this way).

    Thanks in advance,
    Sam

Subject: enter and tab keys for completion of tags

When some things are presented as menu items, it's proper for the enter key to select the highlighted menu item.

If the right arrow is pressed whilst a sub-menu is selected, the selection moves into the sub-menu.

From that point, the left arrow moves from the sub-menu to the parent menu.

Tabbing moves from one main menu to another, so for example I can select anything in a File menu; then the tab key will move the cursor right and up, to the head of the Edit menu; and from any point in the Edit menu, shift-tab will move left and up to the head of the File menu.

Key navigation of menus should be no different in a Firefox menu, no different in a Diigo menu.

Subject: presenting alphabetically, presenting by frequency

In another topic http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/group-tag-dictionary-becomes-disorderly-as-it-grows-allow-sort-and-export-9232 I have asked for things to be more orderly, to be in alphabetical order.

In some parts of the Diigo UIs I can imagine there being user preferences to set order. I can't imagine room for that preference in the bookmark dialogue.

If the group tag dictionary is to be orderly (alphabetical) then I should expect there to be a similar order in a dialogue that's presented whilst I'm bookmarking something for a group.

    Agreed on both features.

Sorting by frequency of use for tag suggestions would be VERY time-saving

Pressing enter to select tags is problematic because occasionally there is a delay in the interface (for whatever reason) and several times i've ended up accidentally submitting a half tagged bookmark by pressing enter to select a tag, but its ended up submitting the bookmark instead.

That's a bug. Would you mind creating a separate topic for it?

    Thanks

I'm afraid that You misunderstood Me.

I don't speak about menus in anywhere, the manus' keys are defined quite strictly, and in the 'File' for example, Enter and Right arrow mean the same in every Operatin system.

I speak about a textbox, where You can write the tags. These texboxes' filling logic is quite different, and my basic problem is thet in other programs, namely in some HTML-based textboxes of the Firefox, they follow another logic, and using the two parallel causes several mistakes, pressing Enter abandons input with an incomplete text . Allowing filling it by right arrow should be nice and I think The codnig part is not difficult.

    Thanks

It's important to say I don't want to order anything by frequency, but by *Frecency*. This is the algorithm used in Firefox 3's URL bar ("Awesomebar") and proved to be fantastically efficient.

I have to emphasize that it's needless to sort the tag dictionary this way. Only the tag input field, and the reason is quite the same: what logic is proved in Firefox's input must be the same useful in this addon's input.

Although I confess that it needs a lot of work to build such a feature, needs a complete database to store the frecency data.

    Thanks and Happy new year,
    Sam

I did misunderstand, apologies, thanks for clarifying!

    >> an autocomplete list rolls down with the suggested tags

    Elsewhere in Diigo, some places:

    * a list of suggested tags rolling down _is_ a menu

We realise now that in some areas, including (maybe not limited to) Diigo 3.1.6.13 bookmark dialogue in Firefox:

    * a list of suggested tags rolling down is _not_ a menu.

Presentation is very different in the Diigo dialogues with which I'm familiar, hence some confusion ;)

OK, now I see http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/frecency and get it

(To be honest, I read 'KGyST1 KGyST' and thought 'frecency' was a typo!)
