Diigo does say " " for tag with multiple words ("social networking sites" )
You've managed it here: "Asymmetric warfare"

Maybe it the question mark that breaks it?

Personally I prefer to avoid space and use ' - ' or ' _ ' as each service renders them differently (%20 or +) and it could create problem when exporting bookmarks with the tags

Thanks for the feedback, yuppi c. I'll give it a try without the question mark, else use the _ as you suggested. I'm "backing up" my bookmarks from Diigo to Delicious.com, and I see the underscore being used there.
