There is a privacy setting. To make it private, make sure you check off the "Private ?" box

Diigo remembers your last setting. You can also go to toolbar >> options to make your default private as well. Choice is all yours :-)

Thank you. Now that I've discovered that I made some things public, I don't see how to either delete them or make them private. I know that I can do either to a bookmark, but I don't see it for messages. Can you help?

For bookmarks, you can easily change them to private by going to "My Bookmarks" > select ones you wish to change (use the check box in front) > use "More Actions" pull down > convert to private.

For messages, go to "Messages" in the navigation >> click "Sent" tab >> for each msg that you wish to convert to private, simply click the "lock" icon on the upper left hand corner to lock, ie. make it private.

    Diigolet ignores it ;)

Yes, it seems like you have to do this for each message, one at a time.
