Firefox needs to restart in order to finish an extension installation. You can try firefox 3 which has a session manager that can restore all opened tabs after restarting. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-rc.html

It was IE. But that wasn't my point. My point is the user is not asked if they want to restart the browser, like any other toolbar install does. I had several tabs open, which were all closed and not reopened. Very annoying.
