Please: does anyone have a reference for the ROR bug?
Speeding through searches of https://rails.lighthouseapp.com/projects/8994-ruby-on-rails/tickets at a glance I found nothing resembling a bug in this area.
In irc://irc.freenode.net/#RubyOnRails conversation was as follows:
— "just gsub them out".
> Parentheses
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2396#appendix-E
* makes explicit a recommendation to use angle brackets
* does not mention parentheses (but in practice, we find occasional use).
The text exemplified in the standard is broken in Diigo:
Yes, Jim, I found it under "http://www.w3.org/Addressing/", but you can probably pick it up from
Specifically:
* two of three URI references are lost (broken)
* one of three is unbroken, but not presented as a hyperlink.
It would REALLY help to have the forum not breaking URLs.
Supporting < > angle brackets may be the most effective way of avoiding breakage of properly enclosed URLs.
Thanks, yours hopefully …
Diigo Meta URLs break in Diigo comments
Please support angle bracket enclosures.
If angle brackets were supported, we wouldn't be seeing the problems at e.g.
http://groups.diigo.com/group/Diigo_HQ/content/1629321#1 and
http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.qed-info.de%2Fdocs%2FQuality_Development_and_Standards_in_e-Learning_Stracke_20090721.pdf?tab=comment&uname=grahamperrin
Support for angle bracket enclosures would prevent this type of breakage.

When I paste the same URL in angle brackets, the whole thing disappears.
Please, can you add support for angle brackets?
