I was also set to get with publishing my first webslides presentation. When I uploaded the recording I made of my voice, I was stunned to find that the preview sound altered the speed of the recording. I have a deep voice, but after uploading it I sounded like an elf!

I'm not a sound engineer, so there may be something in the way I recorded the file. But all I did was record the mp3, and played it back on my computer. It sounded fine then.

Is there something I need to know about to keep the sound speed from being altered or is this something on diigo's end?

I should also point out that even though the sound file has been uploaded to my webslides presentation, it doesn't play when I initiate the presentation itself. All I get are the slides - no sound.

    Am I missing something?

    Hi mandib:
What's the audio rate in your recording, 22kHz or 44kHz? If it is 22K Hz, please try to record the voice in 44KHz.
We will solve the problem you mentioned in the second post soon.

    1) The audio file you uploaded is in 32KHz rate. However, the flash audio player we use prefer 44KHz, so we adjusted your mp3 file to 44KHz. We'd like to find a better audio player later.
    2) We fixed the bug and it will play after you initiate the presentation. Please try it.

    Hi Joel,

Well, I tried doing another webslides presentation and was met with the same problems. To be clear this one is an entirely different set of sites called "Drummin Up Some Link Love #19". I'm not an audio expert, but from what I can tell from the software I'm using to record, it's doing so at 96 Kbps. But knowing our above thread, I converted it to 44 K using another tool. After uploading it, it still played at a fast rate.

Additionally, it's still a struggle getting it to save the name of the presentation. I've changed it via both methods of accessing the settings, but it still shows as coming from "diigo" on the first slide before playing.

The latter I know is something only you guys can fix, but for the audio speed-up, is that something on your end as well? If not, can you please point me to a tool that would do what you're suggesting? I used Free Hi-Q Recorder to record and then used Any Audio Converter to change the speed before uploading. The speed always sounded right on my computer before and after the change, just not after uploading it onto diigo.

Ok. We will try to find a good solution to this problem. I already put it in my to-do list.

    Hello again, Joel,

Would you have an update on this?

It's strange that the sampling rate of your original file is still in 32KHz. We converted the mp3 file for you, please check it.

Here are some links about the tools I used and related instructions.

    http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php
    http://podcasting.about.com/od/creatingmp3files/ht/bitrateaudacity.htm
    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/lame

BTW, We are working on a better audio solution.

It may be that I'm missing something, but your links I'm sure will come in handy. Thanks!

Well, looks like I may have to wait until some things are worked out. The sound file is fine, but when I go to collapse the bottom nav bar the sound stops. It didn't do that before. The reason I was doing that was because that was the only way I could have the author line edited. Currently it says "By Diigo" even though when I go to edit it it says "Mark of MeAndMyDrum.com".

In the meantime, I'll still review the links you provided. I'll leave these webslides in my account in case you need to refer to them, but I will be deleting them eventually as the timeliness is now overdue.
